It is believed that all women know how to knit and, if not with a big thing, then with a small one, they must cope. For example, with a scarf or mittens. It is from this wardrobe item that it is often advised to start learning for beginners in knitting. But for beginner knitters, it is often round knitting on knitting needles that becomes a problem. We suggest that you first try to knit mittens for children using a simple flat layout on two knitting needles.

Our master class with a detailed description will help to make the first pair and understand the principle, and in the future it is already easy to knit on 4-5 knitting needles in a circle, without additional stitching of the product.

We knit warm mittens on 2 knitting needles for children of any age

Mittens are always knitted, starting from the wrist, and it is very important to initially dial in the correct number of loops, so that later you do not dissolve the product and do not redo the work. We present you with a table for calculating loops. You only need to measure the circumference of the child's wrist with a centimeter.

This table is suitable for any method of knitting mittens.

You will knit according to this layout, referring to the job description.

one). First, knit 10 rows of elastic according to the scheme 1 purl loop, 2 knit stitches, etc.

2). Then there are 7 rows of knit stitches.

3). In the middle of the next row, add 1 big toe stitch and repeat for the next three rows.

4). Separate the thumb loops from the palm loops. If you check with the diagram, there should be 13 of them, but make an even number - 14. These loops remain on the needles, and the rest are removed on a thread.

five). Knit the entire length of the thumb with the front loops, knit the last 2 rows of all loops 2 together and pull the remaining ones at the end into one. With this thread of yarn, sew the thumb on the side.

6). Now, having returned all the loops from the thread to the knitting needles, knit with the front loops in a straight line. And, before you close your palm, narrow it according to the pattern.

7). Cover the last row in the usual way. But first, all the remaining loops are put on one knitting needle, alternating 1 loop of the front and back of the mitten. Then knit 2 loops together, return the resulting loop to the knitting needle, then 3 together, obtained back and so on until the end of the row.

eight). You can decorate the mitten with embroidery, felt applique or, like here, a crocheted snowflake.

nine). Sew the side seam. You can also add a fleece lining if you like.

Trying to make beautiful mittens on 4 knitting needles (or on 2 circular needles)

In this example, slightly complicated, it is shown how to knit mittens for children on circular or sock knitting needles # 2.5. However, the circuit is also not complicated and is suitable for beginners.

one). For about a three-year-old child, you need to dial 32 loops and tie 16 rows of elastic (1 front, 1 purl).

2). The next rows are knit stitches. If you want to make a strip on the product with yarn of a contrasting color, then knit 3 rows with this yarn (you can not break the original thread, and then stretch it on the wrong side). Knit 5 more rows with base color yarn.

3). Begin to knit the hole for the right thumb. To do this, knit 2 loops with the front ones, and remove the next 6 loops on a knitting needle, or more conveniently on a large pin, and finish the row with the front ones.

4). So knit 15 rows with the main color (cut it off) and 4 with the additional color. Try on a mitten, there should be enough length to the tip of the little finger, if not, tie a couple more rows.

five). Distribute the loops on 2 knitting needles in half and knit on each, but in a circle with a decrease: 2 sang on each side of each row (through a circle). That is, in one row, the number of loops is reduced by 4 pieces, in the next - it remains unchanged. Alternate rows until there are 10 stitches on the needles. For the next few rows, remove 2 stitches in each front row. And as soon as 10 pieces remain, knit like this: 2 together, 1 front, 2 together, 1 front. Collect the last 6 loops by pulling the thread through them and tighten.

6). Knit your thumb. Transfer the loops from the pins to the knitting needles and knit 13 rows in a circle with yarn of an additional color, then 2 rows together and tighten the end of the thread. Bring all the ends of the threads to the wrong side.

The left mitten is knitted symmetrically. You can embroider the pattern with yarn.

The photo shows a diagram of a moth for embroidery with a "loop" stitch.

Master class on knitting bright mittens on 2 circular knitting needles

This method is unusual. It was invented either by very impatient people who want to immediately knit both mittens without wasting time, or very pedantic and neat, who are afraid that the second mitten will not turn out to be an exact copy of the first. Be that as it may, such a method exists. You need to prepare and rewind the yarn into two balls. It is not very convenient to look at the details of this method in the photo, so we included a master class with a detailed description in the video selection.

Having learned how to knit mittens for children and watching a video, you can make such mittens for adults.

Mittens are one of the most essential items of a winter children's wardrobe. They protect your little one's hands from freezing cold. That is why, when choosing children's mittens, first of all, you need to pay attention to how well they warm. But it is also important for children that the things they use are beautiful, bright and interesting. For example, any child will appreciate knitted mittens in the form of some animals, toys or favorite cartoon characters.

Thus, mothers are faced with a difficult task - to find warm mittens that her baby should also like. But if you are a mother-needlewoman, everything is solved very simply, mittens can be knitted with knitting needles themselves. Now in stores, the choice of yarn is so great that you can easily pick up threads that are suitable for the quality, but your child will tell you what kind of mittens he wants.

A lot of modern kids will like the mittens that we offer you to knit in our master class. These are mittens in the form of minions - heroes of the famous cartoon "Despicable Me". Plus, in this tutorial we'll teach you how to make these mittens double.

The list of everything you need to knit minion mittens is small.

What you need to knit children's mittens

    1. Yarn... Which thread to give preference is up to you, but we can recommend paying attention to some properties of the yarn that are important for children's mittens.

Firstly, according to the composition of the thread, it is better to choose semi-wool, which combines the advantages of both components: wool - warms, acrylic - prevents shrinkage of the product. Secondly, an important point is the quality of the dyeing of the fiber, because the minion mittens are knitted from yarn of different colors, which should not dye each other in further use (and, in particular, washing). And in order to protect yourself from possible disappointments, do not forget to always knit a sample from the yarn of your choice before working with the product, and be sure to subject it to wet heat treatment to check its properties.

We will use Russian-made yarn Pekhorka "Children's Caprice". Its footage is 225m in 50gr. The yarn is quite thin, so we will knit in two strands. For double mittens for a child aged 2-3 years, one skein of each color will be enough. By the way, the color scale of the yarn is set by the image of the minion himself, that is, blue and yellow will be needed. In addition, you will need very little yarn in black, white and gray, and any unnecessary yarn leftovers will do for use as a waste thread.

    2. Knitting needles set... The size must match the selected yarn. We'll take No. 3.5.

    3. Knitted needle or crochet hook, depending on what is more convenient for you to use when closing the loops.

When the choice is made and everything is ready, you can get to work.

How to knit children's mittens with knitting needles: a master class

The technology of knitting double mittens provides for a set of the first row of loops with a waste thread. For this purpose, any thread is suitable, its color and quality does not matter, since later it will be removed. So, take 2 knitting needles and dial 36 loops on them (all calculations in this master class are given for a child aged 2-3 years)

Take out one of the knitting needles and distribute all the loops equally on 4 knitting needles, that is, 9 loops for each. To do this, you just need to transfer the loops, you do not need to knit them. First, reshoot 9 loops on the first knitting needle.

    Then to the second.

And then on the third knitting needle, and on the fourth, these 9 loops will simply remain.

In order to close the knitting in a circle, connect the beginning and end of the row by simply knitting the first loop.

For greater stability, we will also knit the first row after the typesetting with a waste thread. In the next row, let's move on to knitting with the main thread, attaching a blue thread. Let's start knitting the cuff of the mitten. We advise you to choose some kind of knitted elastic band for this, because such knitting better holds the mitten on your hand. We will use an elastic band 2 * 2, that is, this is an alternation of two front loops and two purl loops.

Cuff height 20 rows - or 5 cm.

Next, we move on to the main part of the mitten. We also knit it with a blue thread, only with the front satin stitch (knit all the loops with the front ones). We will knit to the base of the thumb. In our example, this is a distance of 4cm, or 15 rows.

Then change the color blue to yellow. To do this, simply cut the thread.

Attach the yellow thread and continue to knit with the front loops.

We simply knit the loops of the two knitting needles in yellow.

On the third knitting needle, we will outline the place for knitting the thumb. This is on the right hand mitten. When we knit the second mitten - for the left hand, the thumb will be knitted on the fourth knitting needle. The width of the thumb for children's mittens is usually expected to be 2 loops less than the number of loops on one knitting needle. A simple arithmetic calculation - and we find out how many loops to leave for the finger of our mittens: 9-2 = 7 loops.

We will simply knit the first loop with a yellow thread.

To mark the place for the thumb, take another piece of junk thread.

We attach it to our knitting and knit with this thread the number of loops that we calculated, that is, 7 loops.

These stitches should be returned to the left knitting needle by sequential transfer.

There is again one loop on the working needle, knitted with a yellow main thread.

We put the main thread into work again and continue knitting with the front stitch on the loops that were reshomed.

We knit the last (ninth) loop from the third knitting needle.

We continue knitting in a circle.

This is what the place for the thumb looks like, the loops are temporarily fastened with a waste thread.

You need to knit 12 rows with a yellow thread.

Let's go back to yellow and knit 8 more rows with it.

If possible, try on a mitten for a child or check the measurements. Having tied the main part of the mitten to the tip of the little finger, you can begin to make decreases. There are different ways to make mittens deductions. To give our mitten the rounded shape of the minion's head, a method of evenly decreasing the loops is suitable for us.

To do this, we will knit the entire row of 2 loops together. Behind him, we knit the next 3 rows again without any decrease, just with the front satin stitch. The next row after them again with decreases (knit all loops in two together). And we end with another row of front loops.

Cut off the thread and use a knitted needle (or crochet hook) to pull the end of this thread through all the loops.

Pull the thread - and thus close the loops. All that remains is to fix and remove the tail.

Now you can start tying your thumb. To do this, pull out an additional thread, and so that the loops do not come loose, we immediately hang them on the knitting needles.

When all the loops are free of thread, distribute them on four knitting needles, adding more from the broaches to prevent holes at the junction of the upper and lower rows.

The finger of the mitten is like the pen of a minion. Therefore, first we will knit 10 rows in yellow. Then we switch to black (like gloves for minions) and knit them from 11 to 15 rows. The length of the tied finger has reached the middle of the nail, you can make reductions. To do this, in the 16th row from the beginning of the finger, we knit all the loops 2 together. The next row - knit all loops. The 18th row is again with decreases. Gather the remaining loops with a needle and thread and pull together.

In fact, we have one complete mitten ready. But to make it double, let's go back to the typesetting row.

We will weave or carefully cut off the waste thread, while the open loops must be immediately put on the knitting needle.

We also distribute them in 9 loops on four knitting needles.

Now we will knit a mitten in the opposite direction. In the first row, we will knit all the loops with the purl to form the place where the cuff is folded. Next, we knit in the same way 20 rows of elastic 2 * 2.

We knit the main part of the mitten according to the same calculations, only completely yellow. Please note that the finger needs to be knitted opposite the already knitted finger.

This is what a double mitten looks like when unfolded.

Finally, you can make a face for the minion. We embroidered the eyes with a stalk stitch. If you know how to crochet, then you can first knit them separately, and then sew to the mitten. We will also embroider the mouth.

Make the minion's hairstyle with large stitches.

Children's mitten for the boy is ready.

It remains only to "put" one into the other.

And tie the second one. Be sure to pay attention to the correct placement of your thumb.

The mittens are warm and cute. Your kid will definitely like these.

How to knit mittens for beginners step by step

For knitting we need: wool - 100 g., c. x 4. We begin to knit from the cuff (the initial part of the product). The circumference of the cuff is measured according to the circumference of the hand.

We knit with an elastic band 2 x 2, so that the number of loops dialed is a multiple of four. We collect loops for 2 bn., Then distribute in equal quantity to the rest. Knitting takes place in a circle. Pay attention to the fact that the front loops (l.p.) are made for the front walls, the purl (I.p.) - for the rear ones.

We make a cuff 5 - 6 cm high, then move on to the main pattern. We knit the main pattern with a height of also 5 - 6 cm and create a hole for the thumb.
Suppose we have 12 loops on each knitting needle (cn.).

We make a hole for the thumb on the third joint venture. according to the scheme:
    1. We knit the 1st st., Remove the following sts on a pin or marker;
    2. To another cn. we throw on air loops as much as we removed on a pin;

    Popular articles:

We knit further in a circle. We knit the product to the end of the scheme. After we have knitted the main part of the mitten, we begin to knit the thumb.

We drag the loops removed to the pin to the cn. The number of thumb loops should be a multiple of 3. We knit the loops in a circle, starting to subtract the loops from the thumbnail. When we have 6 loops left, we pull the woolen thread through the loops and tighten.

    Working process:

Left mitten with an ornament for beginner needlewomen:
We dial 36 points on the cn. and distribute to 4 bd. We knit an elastic band 1 x 1 about 10 cm in a circle. We change the row between the first and fourth cn .. Then we make faces. satin stitch - 2 p.

We knit a drawing with an ornament according to the scheme:

    1. on the 1st and 2nd bn. do 2 p. rapport A x 9 p .;

    2. on the 3rd and 4th bn. knit 18 p. of rapport C;

    3. We repeat in rapport 1 the first and second p., In rapports B and C we do from 1 to 24th p .;

    4. Starting from the 2nd row of persons. Smoothly, we perform additions for the thumb wedge:
    but. on the 2nd bd. we knit loops according to the figure. When there are no 4 sts left until the end of the row, then add 1 st;

    b. We knit 2 sts according to the pattern, then again add 1 st and so on according to the pattern. We include all the added loops in our general drawing;

We do repetitions in every 2nd p. x 5 times. After we have completed all the additions, we make 1 row. In the next p. we collect new 2 sts above the loops, and continue to knit in a circle up to 16 cm.

For the formation of the top, at the beginning of the 1st and 3-1 knitting needles, we knit 1 p., According to the scheme + 2 lp. together. At the end of the 2nd and 4th knitting needles we knit 2 hp. together with a broach (remove 1 p. as lp, then knit 1 lp and stretch it through the removed one), 1 lp. We repeat these decreases in each row until we have 9 p.

We take scissors and cut off the thread. Pull the thread through the loops and tighten.

When we get to the fingernail, we begin to decrease the loops. To do this, we knit 2 l.p. together until 4 sts remain. Take the scissors and cut off the thread. Pull the thread through the loops and tighten.

In order for the mitts to fit well on the hand, we will slightly reduce the number of loops. So, we knit 44 sts, then after 5 cm we reduce their number to 40.

We collect loops, and begin knitting with an elastic band 1 x 1 about 5 cm (1 lp x 1 ip). Distribute the loops evenly over 4 bn., So 11 sts on each.

After we have finished knitting the elastic, we reduce the number of stitches by knitting 2 liters of stitches together and move on to the main drawing.

The first 2 needles are the front of the mitts, the rest are the lower. We knit the lower part only lp, and make the front part according to the "double rice" pattern.

We make 1 cn., Knit 2 l.p. together for the "wedge". The basic pattern is very similar to the 1 x 1 elastic band, but offset along the rows. We knit 2 p. according to the figure, the following change the direction - above the l. item. knit ip and vice versa. Thus, we alternate the rows, changing the direction. After 4 rows we knit a "wedge", starting from 2 p. Of the first joint venture. We make increases, knit 1 p., Make a yarn (n.), Then 2 p. + N.

We work according to the picture. In the next p. we knit yarn overs lp We reach the base of the thumb. We knit 1 st of the first knitting needle, then remove 9 sts on a pin, and make 4 air loops. Next, we knit yarn overs l. In the next row we knit these loops 2 together.

Towards the end, we again go to knitting an elastic band, then close the loops.

Let's move on to knitting the thumb. Add 7 more to 9 p. (= 16 p.). We distribute 4 points for each joint venture. and knit lp. - 6 p., Then an elastic band.

We will make a hole for the finger on the 1st joint venture. for the right mitten, and on the 2nd for the left. We knit 1 st. On 1 cn., Knit the rest with the front ones, and return to the 1st cn. This should create a hole. Next, knit in a circle until the end of knitting (8 cm).

Making a toe. To do this, we subtract p. In the rows. On the 1st and 3rd bd. at the beginning we make 2 l.p. together, and on the 2nd and 4th we knit 2 hp. in the end. We knit until 2 sts remain, close them.

We return to knitting the thumb. We should get 7 loops on one cn., 6 on the other. Next, we work according to the scheme, at the end, decreasing the loops. Close the remaining 1 loop.

Knitting is one of the most exciting types of needlework. In addition, hand knitting is also very fashionable. At the peak of popularity, knitwear has raised a widespread interest in things made in the style of hand-made. Therefore, many girls again took up the knitting needles to create fashionable masterpieces with their own hands. Detailed instructions on how to knit mittens will help you master the knitting skills of this accessory, and will reveal the secrets of craftsmanship.

    Choosing materials and tools

To perform mittens you will need:

    • threads
    • set of 5 knitting needles
    • pin

For knitting mittens, it is recommended to use thin or medium-thick yarn, natural woolen or semi-woolen. Products made from these types of yarn are beautiful, warm, and comfortable to wear. Yarn consumption depends on the size of the hand, the volume of the selected pattern, the length of the cuff, and the length of the yarn itself. On average, a pair of mittens takes from 50 to 150 g. The choice of knitting needles depends on the thickness of the yarn: for knitting with thin threads it is recommended to use knitting needles No. 2, for knitting with threads of medium thickness - knitting needles No. 3.

Various patterns and knitting techniques can be used to knit mittens, but they look most impressive:

    • braids and plaits
    • bumps
    • shadow patterns
    • relief patterns
    • jacquard ornaments
    • motives
    • stripes

The selected pattern is placed on the back of each mitten or, if the pattern is flat, it can be knitted on both sides of the garment. Mittens knitted with regular stitching can be additionally decorated with embroidery, applique, fringe, pom-poms, buttons, knitted flowers, beads or rhinestones.

Features of knitting mittens with stocking needles

For beginner needlewomen, in order to understand the intricacies of knitting, it is recommended for the first time to try to knit the simplest version of mittens. In the presented instructions, we will knit mittens with knitting needles in the traditional way of knitting - circular. When performing it, all the loops of the future product are evenly distributed on 4 working knitting needles and closed in a circle. The junction of the circle should be marked by attaching a contrasting thread or pinning pin. The fifth knitting needle is an auxiliary one, used for knitting loops and in the process of work replaces all the others in a circle. Knitting is done clockwise.

Knitting in a circular fashion is carried out exclusively from the front side of the product and, accordingly, in a circle, which automatically excludes the presence of edge loops. This type of knitting allows you to get a seamless product. The left mark in the form of a thread or a pin at the junction of the dialed loops into a ring indicates both the end of the previous and the beginning of the new row.
Using stocking knitting needles, you can knit mittens both from top to bottom and from bottom to top. The latter method is the most common and much easier to implement. Having mastered it, you can quickly learn how to knit mittens and other, more complex methods.

The whole knitting process is conventionally divided into several stages:

    • calculation of loops
    • execution cuff
    • knitting the bottom of the mitten
    • knitting the top of the mittens
    • toe design
    • knitting a thumb

In order for the mittens to sit well on your hand, without squeezing it or dangling, you should accurately determine the size of the product.

    How to calculate loops

To calculate the number of loops required for work, you should knit the sample using the pattern you like. To knit a sample, cast on the needles up to 30 loops and knit the same number of rows. Pulling the sample obtained slightly with your fingers, measure the density of knitting horizontally and vertically, calculate its coefficient by dividing the calculated result by 10.
Then take measurements by measuring the circumference and length of the palm, the height of the thumb. The girth of the palm is measured at its widest part, using a tightly stretched measuring tape. The length of the palm is measured at several points from the wrist:

    • to the top of the thumb
    • to the top of the little finger
    • to the base of the thumb

The height of the thumb is measured from its base to the middle of the nail plate.

Attention! Knowing the knitting density coefficient and palm measurements, it is easy to calculate how many loops you need to dial for the future product.

The calculation of the loops is made according to the formula: multiply the girth of the palm by the coefficient of horizontal knitting density.

For example, it looks like this: 20 x 1.9 = 38 loops, where

    • 20 - measurement of the girth of the palm in cm
    • 1.9 - density factor

The result obtained should be a multiple of 4. This will distribute the dialed loops evenly over the 4 working needles. If the result is not divisible by four, it should be rounded up to the nearest multiple of four.
For example, it looks like this: when calculating the loops, the result was 38. This number is not divisible by four, so it should be increased to the nearest multiple of four, in this case it is 40. This number of loops should be cast on the knitting needles.
Special tables will also help with determining the number of loops required for knitting a product, in which all the necessary data are indicated, depending on the girth of the palm.

Using the measurements taken, you can additionally build a drawing of the mittens and be guided by it in the process of knitting.

Attention! The use of a drawing is especially appropriate if the mittens are knitted for another person and there is no opportunity to try them on during the knitting process.

    Knitting cuff

Considering the traditional way of knitting mittens - from the bottom up, you should start knitting the first mitten (in this case it will be the right one) from the cuff. To knit a cuff, dial 40 loops and evenly, 10 pieces each, distribute them on 4 knitting needles.

Attention! Since the knitted mitten is intended for the right hand, on the 1st and 2nd needles there will be loops designed to knit the inside of the hand. On the 3rd and 4th needles there are loops designed to knit the back of the hand. The loops dialed and distributed on 4 knitting needles should be closed in a ring, knitting for this in the second row the first four loops of the 1st knitting needle together with the end of the typesetting row. This technique will make the joint tighter. Then you should mark the seam by pinning it with a pin or tying a contrasting thread to make it easier to determine the beginning and end of each row.

In order for the mitten to grip the wrist well and not stretch during wear, its lower edge - the cuff, should be decorated with an elastic band.

Attention! The most common cuff design options are 1 × 1 or 2 × 2 elastic. But other design options can also be used: with an elastic band 3 × 3 or 4 × 4, with braids or braids, a transverse elastic band, a scalloped edge or front satin stitch with an edge turned to the wrong side.

The simplest design option for a mitten cuff is knitting a 2 × 2 elastic band. This pattern is a sequential alternation of 2 front and 2 purl loops. It can be used when knitting mittens for the first time.

After the required number of loops has been dialed and distributed on the needles, and then closed in a ring, you should start knitting an elastic band 2 × 2. Having tied the cuffs to a height of 6-10 cm (if desired, the cuffs can be knitted longer or shorter), you should proceed to the next knitting stage - the lower part of the mitten. We will use the main pattern for this.

Knitting the bottom of the main part of the mitten

For those who are just mastering the art of knitting mittens, for knitting the main part, it is recommended to choose a pattern as simple as possible, for example, the front surface. When performing this pattern, all loops should be knitted exclusively for the upper lobule, that is, the thread is in work all the time.

The bottom of the mitten starts from the top edge of the cuff and reaches the base of the thumb. In order for the palm to sit comfortably inside the mitten, at the stage of transition of the cuff to the main part of the mitten, increments should be made - one front loop at the beginning of the 1st and 3rd knitting needles, as well as one front loop at the end of the 2nd and 4th knitting needles. Pull out the added loops from the twisted broaches. Next, knit a mitten with a basic pattern in a circle. After 5-7 cm from the top edge of the cuff, a hole for the thumb should be made. This knitting method is called "wedge-free". This means that the part of the thumb is made according to a simplified scheme.

Attention! In the process of knitting, a mitten should be tried on from time to time or applied to a drawing for comparison.

Knitting the upper part of the main part of the mitten

When you reach the base of your thumb, leave a hole for it. It can be done in one of the presented ways.

Continue knitting the main part in a circle, completing the pattern - front surface. After 8-9 cm, when the upper edge of the main part reaches the tip of the little finger, you should proceed to knitting the toe, which ensures a beautiful fit of the mitten on the hand.

    Knitting a toe

The toe of the mitten can be knitted using any of the following methods:

    • pointed
    • rounded
    • spiral

To obtain a pointed toe on a mitten, the loops should be reduced as follows. Knit the first two loops, located on the 1st knitting needle, together with the front loop, performing the left tilt. Knit the remaining nine loops of the 1st knitting needle with the front stitch. On the 2nd knitting needle, do the same, but in a mirror image: knit nine loops with the front satin stitch, knit the last two together, performing the front loop behind the front walls, thereby forming a slope to the right.

The loops located on the 3rd knitting needle should be knitted like the loops of the 1st knitting needles, namely: knit two loops together with the front stitch, forming a slope to the left, knit the remaining nine loops according to the pattern. The loops located on the 4th knitting needle should be knitted like loops from the 2nd knitting needle: first, nine loops with the front satin stitch, leaving only the last 2, which should be tied together with the front stitch behind the front walls, while forming a slope to the right.

Attention! Repeat the decrease through the row - until there are six loops left on each of the knitting needles. In those rows where the decrease-tilt was not performed, the extreme loops on the knitting needles should be knitted according to the pattern. The remaining six loops on each spoke should continue to be reduced, doing this already in each row. Decreases should be performed 4 rows in a row. As a result, only two loops will remain on each spoke. Having torn off the working thread from the used skein, using a needle, picking up all the free loops, pull off and then fasten the mittens on the wrong side.

To obtain a spiral rounding on the toe, it is necessary to knit the first two loops, located on each knitting needle, together with the front satin stitch for the lower lobules. Repeat in this way decreases in each row until only two loops remain on all knitting needles. Tearing off the thread from the used skein, pick up the loops, using a needle, pull off, hide the excess ends on the wrong side.

Attention! Spiral and rounded ways of making toes on mittens will look good if the mittens are knitted exclusively with the front satin stitch, without using other patterns. If the mittens are knitted using an openwork or a pattern of braids, then before starting the decrease for the toe, you should switch to knitting with the front satin stitch, having previously knitted 1-2 rows, and then just starting to decrease the loops for the toe.

    Knitting thumb detail

Any of the options presented can be used to complete the part of the thumb.

The right mitten is ready. The second, left mitten, knit in a mirror image.

Having mastered the technique of knitting mittens using this instruction, novice needlewomen can also try their hand at knitting mittens with more complex patterns. Improving the skill of knitting mittens, enjoying the process, you can master other techniques: knitting mittens with a lining, with a regular wedge, with an Indian wedge, with a separate index finger, using shortened rows, from top to bottom, cross-knitting. Enjoy your creativity!
