• Construction of a year skirt. Year skirt, pattern construction. Skirt year to the floor - pattern

    04.03.2022

The style of the year skirt expands along the side and central seams to the bottom of the product. This model is suitable for absolutely any girl due to the versatility of tailoring: it visually lengthens the legs, stretches the silhouette and hides excess figure. Even the most inexperienced seamstress without special skills can sew it. Any fabric is suitable for making such a skirt: light - for summer and woolen - for severe winter. You can experiment with the length as your imagination and courage allow you. It can be below the knee, to the floor or a mini-skirt with a lot of wedges. The standard length of a year skirt is 70 cm. In today's article, a pattern of a year skirt will be presented to your attention, followed by sewing instructions. So let's get started!

    Varieties

Before you sew a year skirt with your own hands, you should familiarize yourself with its main types, namely:

    • A product with wedges of different sizes on the hip line, which looks very presentable and is suitable for office work. For its tailoring, it is advisable to take woolen or any dense fabric.
    • Skirt with parallel center seams. It is considered universal, suitable as casual, business and festive wear.
    • Skirt with undercuts. It is considered the most popular among the fair sex.
    • Outfit with a diagonal cut yoke.
    • With rounded edges. This model is very similar to a blossoming flower. A great option for tailoring a wedding or evening dress.
    • Classical (ordinary) year skirt. This product is cut with one transparent and with the second opaque wedge.

Skirt year to the floor - pattern:

    1. Set aside from the hip line down 30 cm (depending on the model).
    2. We draw horizontal lines from the intended point.
    3. Divide the front and back of the skirt in half, again draw horizontal lines along the entire canvas.
    4. We transfer the tucks of the product along the marked lines. We got 4 wedges, 2 of which are on the front of the skirt and the remaining 2 are on the back.
    5. Set aside 20 cm along the bottom edge of each wedge on the right and left of the material, thereby forming the flare of our future outfit.
    6. Draw and slightly round the bottom of the wedges.
    7. We re-shoot on tracing paper separately each wedge of the product from the pattern.

In our pattern, we got the following details:

    • Front - 1 element with a fold.
    • The middle part of the back canvas - 2 elements.
    • The side of the rear canvas - 2 elements.

Important! For the correct and economical cutting of the year skirt according to the pattern, it is necessary to fold the fabric in half, observing the connection of the edges inside the panel. The front of the product will be located along the fold.

How much fabric do you need to take for sewing a year skirt?

After we already know the pattern, we need to decide on the amount of material needed so that we can understand how to sew a year skirt with minimal costs. So, for example, for a product with a width of 140 cm, you need to take 130 cm of consumables, since the model allows you to narrow the product and use segments to create wedges. This skirt is a real find for any fashionista. So you get a brand new piece of clothing while saving money.

If your situation is the following:

    • There is a directional pattern or pile (details cannot be moved).
    • The width of the fabric in the roll is smaller.
    • The size of your pattern exceeds the size of the intended model.
    • You have made the expansion of the lower wedges too large.
    • You modified your pattern - you drew more wedges on the front than it should be.

For these cases, you will have the following fabric consumption: two lengths of the product + 6 cm for increases for seams. The layout of the parts on the fabric will occur differently: all the patterns will be arranged in two layers - two parts will be on the bottom, and all the rest on top above them. This is the only way you can keep the style of the year skirt.

    Skirt pattern year 6 wedges

Now we will sew a 100 cm long skirt. For this we took 2 meters of fabric. But first we need to cut out:

    • 1 detail - 2 pcs.
    • 2 detail - 2 pcs.
    • 3 detail - 2 pcs.
    • 4 detail - 2 pcs.

The very first detail will be a belt for our future skirt - the width of the belt is equal to the length of the waist + 3 cm for the zipper. The width of the belt, taking into account all allowances, is 7 cm, and in finished form it will be 3.5 cm.

Technique for sewing a year skirt with 6 wedges:

    • We sweep and grind all the wedges of the product along the longitudinal edges, with the exception of the central seam on the back of the panel.
    • We process the seam allowances on the overlock.
    • Sew a hidden zipper into the back of the skirt.
    • We tuck, and then we sew the bottom of our skirt on a sewing machine. To do this, you can use the manual method of laying a blind stitch or finishing the edge with a zigzag stitch.

Important! The last option is only suitable for non-loose fabric.

    • We sew a skirt belt with a non-woven layer on the upper part of the product (waistline).
    • Sew a loop on the zipper allowance.
    • In parallel with the loops, we sew a decorative button to match the product, and then manually close the top allowance.

Important! A pattern of a year skirt for obese women is made according to the above master class only without a belt - the upper edge of the product is processed with a non-woven strip on the inside, and the edge is processed in an overlock way.

    What to wear?

    • For the office version, it is better to combine this style skirt with a silk or chiffon blouse, with a thin knitted turtleneck and with a fitted jacket to the middle of the thigh. A light flowing scarf, glasses and a clutch will add an image.
    • As an evening dress, a year-round skirt will go well with an elasticated top and bright accessories. A bolero draped over your shoulders or a fur cape will effectively complement the image and warm you on a cool summer evening.
    • As for outerwear, in this case you can use a long classic raincoat with a flare to the bottom.
    • The outfit of the cut in question is often used to create a rock look, combining the product with a leather jacket to the waist and high leather boots with wide heels.
    • Due to the fact that the skirt of the year represents femininity, you need to wear it with shoes with heels, but not with ballet flats, moccasins or sneakers.

Important! Up the image with a year skirt should be fitted. Do not use a loose-fitting sweater as an addition. So you will focus on the upper part of the clothes, which will hide all the beauty of the lower dress with original wedges.

Flared skirts have always been popular, but their models are very different from each other. They go out of our wardrobes, then come back again. can be done in different ways, depending on the style. I will show you how to create a 6 wedge pattern. This skirt is suitable for various occasions, both everyday and formal.

The skirt of the year is characterized by a tight fit on the figure, in its upper part from the waist line, and a uniform flare to the bottom, starting from a certain height. The length of the skirt can be completely different, both short and maxi. The principle of constructing a pattern remains unchanged.

The length of the skirt, the size of the flare, the height of the flare and the number of gussets depends on your desire. These are the settings that you can change.

I am building a pattern for a year skirt on a base or a pencil skirt. In the second case, the skirt will beautifully fit the figure in the hip area and the flare down will be more expressive.

This time I took as a basis. We will need a full turn of the front and back panels of the skirt. To build a pattern, you need to divide each of the panels into 3 vertical parts. They can be different in width at the hip line. I will make them equal. To do this, I will divide the width of the front and back panels into three equal parts along the hip line.

Please note that the width of the panels is not the same, which means that the width of the wedges in front and behind will also be different. I will show how the construction of wedges is carried out using the example of the front panel. On the back, it is performed similarly.

After the boundaries of the width of the wedges are outlined, it is necessary to shift the traveling tucks to the vertical lines and outline the height from which the expansion of the wedges will begin from top to bottom. On the sides down from the height of the expansion, vertical auxiliary lines must be drawn.

On each side, along the bottom of the wedges, it is necessary to set aside the same value and draw inclined lines.

At the next stage, we make out the bottom of the wedges. It won't be equal. The length of the side flare must be equal to the vertical height of the flare. We draw a smooth curved line and get a beautiful bottom of the wedges.

After that, you will have to cut the pattern so that each wedge is separate from each other. For convenience, this can be done in advance, at the stage of determining the width of the wedges, and then complete the expansion. This is what the wedges on the front of the skirt will look like. Similarly, wedges are built along the back panel.

On this, the construction of the 6-wedge skirt is completed. Since in this model there is no central seam on the back panel, then in the side seam. If you need a year skirt of 8 wedges, then the width of each panel must be divided into 4 parts. It depends on the style idea. used for everyday wear and for. Therefore, knowledge of the cut may be needed for different situations.

I hope that this lesson will come in handy for you and you will be able to build this actual and very feminine skirt for yourself.

    Sincerely, Arina Shirokova.

Modeling an elegant dress with a fluffy skirt

Greetings to all lovers of beautiful outfits! I bring to your attention the modeling of an elegant dress with a fluffy skirt, which is perfect for celebrating the New Year and for...

Sewing a year skirt with your own hands is quite within the power of not the most experienced dressmaker. Feminine, elegant model lengthens the figure, makes it slimmer. At the back of the skirt there are 4 wedges, in front - one solid panel.

    Required measurements

To build a basic pattern, measurements are needed:

    • waist circumference From
    • hip girth About

To model a long skirt, measure the desired length of the skirt along the side and the length to the knee:

    • product length on the side Di
    • knee length Dk

    For example, let's take:

    • From= 76 cm
    • About= 100 cm
    • Di side = 100 cm
    • Dk= 54 cm

    Construction of a skirt pattern

Layout on the fabric of a pattern of a long skirt year

    Fabric consumption for a skirt

The consumption of fabric for a skirt with a width of 140 cm in our case is 130 cm - this can be seen from the cells in the figure.

    • there is a nap or a directional pattern on the fabric (the parts cannot be turned over),
    • less fabric width
    • pattern size is larger
    • expanding the wedges at the bottom you have done more
    • you changed the pattern - the front part was broken into wedges, i.e. more wedges

then the calculation of fabric consumption for a skirt will be as follows: two skirt lengths plus 6 cm for seam allowances.

The layout on the fabric in this case will be different - the details will be laid out "in two floors" - two details in the bottom row, the rest - above them. With a skirt length of 100 cm, fabric needs 2 m 06 cm.

    Sewing a year skirt

When sewing a do-it-yourself skirt, start connecting parts from above.

Ruffles are sewn on top of the skirt after all vertical seams have been processed. Details of ruffles 4 cm wide should be cut in the longitudinal direction if you are sewing from knitwear. If from fabric, then options are possible both in the equity and in the transverse direction. Try on pieces of fabric to see how the assembly fits best.

    Length of finished (gathered) ruffles:
    back center - 67 cm;
    behind on a relief - 51 cm;
on the side along the side seam - 35 cm.

Cut strips for ruffles 2-2.5 times longer, depending on the desired assembly density.

The bottom of the skirt and the edges of the ruffle are finished with a contrasting thread and a rolled seam on the overlock. You can do this with a zigzag stitch on a regular machine.
The top of the skirt is trimmed, in the back middle seam there is a zipper.

You can also sew a year skirt on the lining. This will save the skirt from excessive deformation when worn, and in winter it will add warmth. It is best to choose a lining fabric made of viscose.
