New Year's "caps" for chairs
All people celebrate the New Year at the festive table. Whether it's a kitchen, a dining room or a banquet hall, you always want everything to look perfect on this magical holiday. It is not difficult to make a Christmas decoration with your own hands from any material - not only fabric is used, but also natural material, and paper, etc. An exquisitely set table, perfect cleanliness in the apartment, windows hung with flashing garlands create a festive, solemn atmosphere. To make these caps you will need:
- Red fabric (the size of the fabric will depend on the number of chairs and the size of their backs).
- White felt.
- White synthetic winterizer.
- Scissors.
- Sewing machine.
- Ruler, chalk.
Sewing caps:
- First of all, you need to measure the width and height of the backs of the chairs. Usually the width of the back of a standard chair is about 45 cm, and the length can be customized. The main thing is that the cap is not too long or too short. It is worth noting that very wide covers will look untidy, while too narrow ones you will not be able to pull on a chair. All caps must be made according to the same template so that they turn out to be the same size and look neat. If the width of the fabric is 1.5 m, then 1.5 m of fabric will be required for three caps.
- Using a long ruler, mark the width of the fabric into three equal parts. With a width of 1.5 m, each piece will be 50 cm. Cut the fabric into three identical strips, each of which will measure 50 x 150 cm.
- Fold one of the resulting strips right side inward and cut in half.
- Now, on the resulting rectangle, you need to cut off the upper corners at the required height to form the pointed end of the cover.
- Fold the two rectangles inside out to each other and sew all the edges except the bottom. Then you should turn the resulting "pouch" and again lay the seams along the edges, stepping back from the edge about 5 mm. As a result, you will get a cover with tightly sewn edges inside.
- Now sew a strip of white padding underneath.
- Take white felt and cut it into thin strips 12-15 cm long. The more strips you get, the larger the pompom will be. The finished strips are folded together and tied tightly in the middle with white thread. Sew the resulting pompom to the corner of the cover.
The cover-cap for decorating the chair is ready. Now sew the covers on the rest of the chairs in the same way.

To make them you will need:
- A small piece of dense red fabric.
- Sintepon.
- White lace ribbon.
- A strip of leather or its substitute in black.
- White cardboard.
- Paper for gift wrapping.
- Glue gun.
- Thread, needle.
Production order:
- Cut out two squares of the same size from red fabric.
- Mark the middle of the square and make a cut from this point.
- Stitch the side seams and edges along the cut line.
- Cut out two small rectangles from the synthetic winterizer, fold them in half and sew them into the bottom of the "panties". Turn the upper part to the wrong side and topstitch the edge by 0.5 mm.
- Cut out narrow red stripes, fold, stitch and sew to the "panties", while leaving unsewn sections for the belt.
- To make a buckle, you should cut a small rectangle out of cardboard, and then cut out the same rectangle from gift wrapping paper. Then glue them together.
- Insert the strip cut out of leather into the trousers, connect the edges with a stapler and glue the finished buckle on top with a glue gun.
- Now you need to cut a small circle out of the synthetic winterizer, sweep it along the edge with a needle and tighten the thread, thus forming a pompom. Sew it to the end of the braid with the same thread.
- Make the second pom-pom in the same way and sew it to the second end of the braid. Tie it in a bow and sew it to the pants.

Christmas toys made of fabric
Hanging figurines made of bright colored felt are very effective. Since this material is quite thick, toys made from it keep their shape perfectly. In addition, felt is easy and pleasant to work with. Therefore, today there are a large number of different options for crafts made on the basis of this material.
In order to make a variety of New Year's decorations from fabric, you need patterns according to which you can make any figure you like - a heart, an asterisk, a Christmas tree, a snowman, a house, etc. If you string several of these products on a thread and decorate it with beads, balls or rain , then you get a very beautiful and funny garland.

To make a Christmas snowman you will need:
- Several multi-colored felt sheets.
- Sheet of cardboard.
- Scissors.
- Needle with colored floss threads (the colors of the threads must match the colors of the felt sheets).
- Glue.
- Two black beads.
- A piece of synthetic winterizer.
- Narrow satin ribbon.
Production order:
- First you need to take a sheet of cardboard, draw patterns of snowman parts on it and carefully cut them out along the contours.
- Then, using cardboard templates, you need to cut out two torsos of a snowman from white felt, from green - two boots and one scarf, from orange - a nose-carrot, and from brown - a hat. You should also cut out one part of the body from the synthetic winterizer.
- To make it more convenient to work, all parts should be placed in their places and fixed with glue.
- After all the details are fixed, you can start sewing them. For work, it is better to select bright floss threads folded in several layers. The seams must be laid as neatly and evenly as possible, since the appearance of the finished product will depend on how even they turn out.
- Boots are sewn with neat "French knots" with a contrasting orange thread.
- Next, you should fix the torso from the sintepon with glue on the back.
- Now you can continue decorating the snowman. The buttons are also made with “French knots”, while tightening the thread more strongly so that the buttons sink slightly due to the glued padding polyester. Thus, the snowman will look more voluminous.
- Then, from the wrong side, the second part of the torso made of felt is applied, fixed with glue, and a tape folded with a loop is inserted at the top. Now it remains to sew the details with the help of an overcast seam with a white thread and tie a scarf around the snowman's neck, on which you can embroider orange stars.
In this way, you can create various New Year's decorations from fabric. Templates for them are drawn on cardboard and then patterns are prepared from them:
Hanging felt toy
Such an unusual figurine will be an excellent Christmas tree decoration, and maybe an independent element of decor - such an ornament will look beautiful as a window decor, curtains, crib.
For work you will need:
- Felt fabric 3 mm thick.
- Scissors.
- Needle with thread.
- Stationery knife.
Production order:
- Take a piece of felt and draw a 15 x 15 cm square on it.
- Then you should cut out the square along the drawn lines.
- With finely sharpened chalk, draw 3 parallel lines on each side of the square, the distance between which should be 2 cm. You also need to draw two diagonals dividing the square into 4 equal triangles.
- Then you should attach the ruler, pressing it tightly against the fabric and cut the lines along the outlined contours with a clerical knife, as shown in the photo. At the same time, it is not necessary to reach the diagonal line by about 6-7 cm.
- Now connect the ends of the smallest resulting square and carefully fix them with a needle and thread.
- Then you should turn the work over to face away from you and overlap the ends of the next square.
- Then the figure is turned over again and the ends of the next square are connected. The same should be done with the ends of the last, largest square.
- Now you need to cut off a piece of thread and thread it through the resulting ornament. If you make several of these figures and connect them in the form of a hanging garland, alternating each figure with a small ball formed from felt, you will get a rather spectacular New Year hanging decoration made of felt fabric.
