• Do-it-yourself balloon, globe and smesharik from papier-mâché. Craft a balloon made of threads with a basket DIY balloon 2 meters

    09.03.2022

    How to make a real papier-mâché balloon with your own hands so that it can then fly? What is required for such a craft, how complicated is the process? In reality, most products of this kind do not require a long time and special knowledge.

    Thanks to detailed master class any beginner can do it. But the finished craft will amaze everyone around. You can make bright multi-colored balls, provide them with baskets or color them to make laughing faces. Whatever, you are only limited by your imagination.

    Step by step master class

    To make a papier-mâché balloon on a balloon, you will need the following materials:

    • a stack of unwanted newspapers;
    • liquid paste;
    • ordinary rubber ball;
    • a few brushes.

    Detailed instructions:

    1. Prepare a paste by diluting it in some unnecessary container of a decent size.
    2. Tear newspaper sheets into strips 2.5 cm wide each.
    3. Inflate the balloon, making sure that it does not exceed the dimensions of the finished craft.
    4. Carefully glue the finished ball with paper strips pre-moistened in the paste.
    5. Important: after wetting the paper, immediately remove any excess liquid by running your fingers. This should be done in advance, before gluing.
    6. When gluing the strips, carefully straighten the folds with your fingertips. It is more convenient to do this with a brush. Act in stages, then the toy ball will turn out beautiful and smooth.
    7. When finished, leave the product to dry. Now carefully pierce the ball inside the newspaper strips and take it out through the small remaining hole at the bottom (this must be left in advance, even before pasting the newspaper).

    If you need a ball white color, just paint the dried blank with the paint of the desired color.

    Globe or moon made of papier-mâché

    How to make a ball - a planet from papier-mâché? I want to create something special. For example, the planet Earth or the Moon. Here the basic principle of making a ball will remain unchanged.

    Step-by-step instruction:

    1. Make a newspaper ball, trying to make it as smooth as possible (no wrinkles) and medium in size. Inflate a regular rubber balloon, then gradually glue strips of newspaper soaked in glue over it. Wait until the product is dry, then blow off the balloon. The preparatory part is over.
    2. Now, for this example, you will need a real globe. It is more convenient than flat pictures. To make the globe look as realistic as possible, it is necessary to redraw the outlines of the continents, individual islands and oceans of the Earth onto a finished paper ball. To do this, arm yourself with acrylic paints.
    3. Is it convenient to color the newspaper or is it worth additionally pasting the balloon on top with white paper? You can first paint with white paint and then apply the outlines of the Earth to it. Or paste over with A4 paper, cutting it also into strips. The technology seems more complicated, but in practice everyone copes, even beginners.

    In this way, you can create any planet from the solar system and then hang them together, creating a composition. It is important to keep the dimensions, remembering that Jupiter is large, Mars is small, and the Earth is medium.

    Balloon with a basket - master class

    Here you can choose the manufacturing technique.

    Option number 1. A beautiful ball. If you want to create a craft quickly, then look at a beautiful colored small ball. Preferably round in shape. Weave to it from a dense thread or take a ready-made mesh. See that the ball fits comfortably inside, and the edges of the net remain free. Trim carefully if necessary.

    Create a shopping cart. You can cut it from the usual plastic cup and paste on the outside. Or glued from a sheet of cardboard. If you have a ready basket, even better. Tie it using the free ends of the thread to the ball. Ready.

    Option number 2. A voluminous balloon with a fabric basket. A great new year surprise, which the child can do if he is prompted.

    Would need:

    • unnecessary newspapers;
    • ordinary rubber ball;
    • diluted paste;
    • brush;
    • pieces of multi-colored fabric (preferably one type);
    • cardboard;
    • skein of rope or braid.

    Step by step instructions:

    Such a papier-mache balloon will turn out beautiful, large and can then be hung from the ceiling.

    1. Making a paper (newspaper) ball. Inflate the balloon following the instructions described above, then glue it successively with thin newspaper strips, dipping them in a paste. Do not seal the space below, around the tail. Leave a hole.
    2. While the blank dries, you can make a basket. To do this, take the cardboard and glue the basket of small sizes step by step, guided by the ball.
    3. Carefully poke 4 small, even holes in the top of the finished basket. See that they are symmetrical.
    4. Decoupage ball. It is dry, now deflate and remove the rubber base (inflated balloon). Tape it with strips of fabric / colored paper (which is preferable). From above, carefully make 2 holes, placing them close. The papier-mâché ball is ready.
    5. Measure out 2 pieces of rope. Take one, thread the tip through one of those holes at the top of the ball, then pull it out through the other. Center so that two identical ends hang down. Tie them, fastening in two opposite holes located in the basket. Do the same with the second remaining rope. Tie the ends alternately to two of the four holes (see picture).
    6. At the top of the children's toy, you can make an additional loop through which it can then be hung from the ceiling.

    A small doll or a man with Lego, ready to fly, will complete the work.

    Balloon - smeshariki from papier mache

    It's easy to do. To create a cute smeshariki you will need:

    • dye;
    • several brushes;
    • a sheet of cardboard;
    • scissors;
    • finished picture.

    The first step is to make an ordinary paper ball, pasted over with newspaper strips. Then, as it dries, decorate the product by painting it like a Smeshariki. Draw a smiling face in front, and attach the missing parts like ears, arms and legs separately.

    Cut them out of a sheet of cardboard or “blind” using a napkin soaked in glue. Some take plasticine. The paper ball is quite dense, so you can attach a variety of parts without fear of its destruction.

    Huge colorful balloons in the sky are always mesmerizing, this sight makes people different ages delight and joy. Balloons have been invented by mankind for a relatively long time, but now they are used not as a means of transportation, but rather for entertainment. You can make a balloon with your own hands, and it is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. Of course, it is difficult to make a huge balloon, and there is nothing to do, but everyone will be able to do a small balloon. Such a balloon can be launched with the whole family. And it will be truly exciting.

    Before proceeding with the manufacture of a balloon, you should familiarize yourself with its design and structural features.

    hot air balloon construction

    How to make a balloon

    The following materials are used for its manufacture: thick paper, thin tissue paper, twine, glue, threads, as well as a triangle, a long ruler, scissors, glue brushes and a pencil.

    The amount of material depends on the selected ball size (D) (see table). It is difficult to make a ball out of paper, but a polyhedron with a large number of faces, similar to a ball, is possible. For example, for a ball with a diameter of two meters, you need 16 strips of paper.

    And the assortment will definitely tell you a lot of great ideas for decorating balloons and creating new toys.

    To sew a mobile from felt, you will need:

    • felt in eight different colors (or less if you want to repeat colors through one);
    • needle and thread or sewing machine;
    • cotton wool or synthetic winterizer for stuffing;
    • bottle caps, buttons or sequins for decoration.

    1. Print out the pattern. Select the desired size of the parts - the petals of the ball and transfer the pattern to sheets of felt of different colors. Cut out. Also cut out a circle from the felt.

    2. Sew the petals of the future ball together using a machine or manually. On one side, leave the hole unsewn - you will need it to stuff the toy. Turn the ball out.

    3. Fill the ball with padding polyester or cotton. Close the hole by sewing on a circle of felt.

    4. Baskets of balls - a cork from a bottle of wine, cut in half and decorated with felt strips. They can be easily glued to supermoment glue.

    5. Decorate the balloons with stars or sparkles, if desired.

    6. Hang the balloon from the mobile disk with long strong strings stretched across the top of the balloon. Or maybe you will add snow-white clouds to the mobile, as we did, or multi-colored raindrops. Create your own unique toy that will delight your baby!

    Interior decoration "Balloon" can become a decorative element or be used in thematic photo shoots. It will be interesting to look as a decorative element in a children's room or as an independent art object in a shabby chic interior. On the basis of this master class, you can sew balloons of different sizes and styles.

    Materials:
    fabric x/6 in two colors measuring 50 x 50 cm;
    white doublerin 50 x 50 cm;
    synthetic filler 300 g;
    beer cardboard 20 x 20 cm;
    paper flowers of different sizes;
    plaster decoration;
    cotton elastic lace - 1.5 m;
    cotton lace - 0.7 m;
    braid with pompoms of two colors - 1 m;
    shabby tape - 0.2 m;
    nylon braid with flowers;
    bead (diameter - 1 cm);
    waxed cord - 4 m;
    velvety braid - 0.3 m;
    sewing threads;
    glue "Moment-Crystal".

    Tools:
    scissors;
    pins;
    sewing needle;
    compass;
    pencil;
    tape measure;
    glue gun;
    awl;
    stationery clips.

    How to make a decorative balloon.

    Using an iron, glue the dublerin on the wrong sides of the fabric. Cut out patterns of balloon dome petals from both fabrics, 3 pieces each.

    1

    We sweep and grind the petals on a sewing machine, alternating colors through one.

    2

    We turn the dome on the front side and stuff it, quite tightly, with synthetic filler. We pin the bottom hole with pins, aligning the edge.

    3

    The correct alignment of the lower opening of the dome can be checked by standing on a flat surface.

    4

    We measure the diameter of the lower hole of the dome. We cut out a circle equal to this diameter from beer cardboard, and also cut out a circle larger in diameter from any fabric.

    5

    We cover the circle for the lower opening of the dome with a fabric so that there are no creases and folds.

    6

    We attach a cloth-covered circle to the lower opening of the dome and sew it with neat small stitches along the entire diameter.

    7

    We sew elastic cotton lace by hand, pulling it a little so that it lies evenly. The stitches are short, barely noticeable. The direction of the wavy side of the lace is chosen in such a way that it is opposite only on one color of the fabric. We fold the lower edge of the lace and also sew it on by hand.

    8

    We cut the waxed cord into 6 equal segments, approximately 0.5 m each. We apply them strictly in the center of each petal of the dome and glue it with a glue gun.

    9

    We cut out a circle with a diameter of about 3.5 cm from beer cardboard and fit it with a cloth. We pierce it in the center with an awl, pull the shabby tape into the hole with a loop, tying a knot at the bottom to secure it. Then we thread the shabby tape into the bead for a neat appearance. Glue the ribbon with pom-poms.

    10

    Approximately in the middle of the entire height of the dome, we visually mark a flat horizontal line, pin it with pins, and then glue the inelastic cotton lace with a glue gun. Then we place the braid with pompoms so that the braid sags on all the petals of the dome. Attach the tape to the glue gun. We cut out individual elements from the nylon braid with flowers and glue them on the glue gun.

    11

    We decorate the lower part of the dome with non-elastic cotton lace, pinning it with pins, and then gluing it to Moment-Crystal. We glue the velvety braid on the glue gun along the bottom of the dome like this.

    12

    We cut a piece of fabric about 25 x 16 cm, fold it in half with shorter lengths to each other and sew them from the wrong side on a sewing machine.

    13

    Then turn it right side out so that the fabric is folded in half. The raw cut is ironed 1 cm inward.

    14

    We prepare two identical mugs of beer cardboard covered with fabric to decorate the bottom of the basket, just as we did before. We sew one of the circles to the bottom of the basket from the front (outer) side.

    15

    Having sewn the outer circle, turn the basket inside out and glue the second circle to the wrong side of the bottom on the “Moment-Crystal”. For the best bonding, we fix the edges of the circles with stationery clothespins.

    16

    For further work, it is necessary to hang the dome and in this position fasten the cords to the basket, at a uniform distance. We cut off the extra tails of the waxed cord and manually sew cotton lace around the entire circumference of the basket.

    17

    Glue paper flowers to the top edge of the basket with a glue gun. We carry out finishing work on decorating the dome. We try on, and then glue paper flowers and plaster decoration on the glue gun.

    Ready!

    I'll tell you how from a simple balloon, baskets-boxes and threads, I made a decoration "balloon". Suitable for a wedding with an appropriate theme, a travel theme, like ours, as well as for any other, with a consistent concept.

    Ideal Nice picture looks like that:

    Let's try to recreate something similar, but with our own hands.

    I originally planned to put the resulting balloons on the table, and this is the reason for some of the design elements. It is also good to hang similar balloons, as in the photo above.

    So, in general, we need

    Balloon (preferably plain, classic or now fashionable round shape);
    - balloon stick (sold in stores for the holidays, as well as in toy stores, in the same place as the balloons themselves);
    - a tip for the ball holder (they need two, on both ends of the stick);
    - a basket of suitable size and shape (if there is a wicker basket - great, I didn’t find it, and I’ll tell you how I got out);
    - jute, linen or cotton twine (for tying the basket);
    - smooth but not too smooth thin threads for weaving a mesh onto a ball (I took cotton threads for knitting);
    - a small ring for the base of the grid (optional, it's just more convenient with it);
    - glue;

    and, if the resulting composition will be used together with floristry, like mine, then you will also need:
    - a cup that fits snugly into the main basket (if the basket is made of permeable material, like mine, if the basket is plastic, an additional cup is not needed);
    - floral sponge (in a glass);
    - actual flowers.

    For business!

    The first thing I did was to find suitable baskets. Ideally, these should have been wicker baskets, but very tiny, and without a hint of a handle. I found only peat pots. They look like this:

    Cut off the pot a little from above, if it is too big. Then we coat it with glue (you can not entirely, but only at the very bottom and at the end at the top). We wrap the pot tightly from the bottom to the top with twine.

    Then we place inside a jar of a suitable size (in my case it is a jar of yogurt), and a stick-holder of a balloon with tips on both ends. If you use a floral sponge, then the bottom tip may not be useful, because. the holder simply sticks into the sponge, and thus will be securely fastened. To be sure, you can fasten everything with glue.

    We inflate the balloon and fix it on the upper tip. It turned out the following:

    In general, it looks like. The turn of the most important thing has come - the threads connecting the ball itself and the basket. Can be used satin ribbons, like here:

    You can use thick threads arranged in the same way (I tried with the same twine, I will show this option as well). However, the network looks best, as in a real balloon. A diagram of a simple weaving of a mesh on a balloon is shown in the picture:

    I used 8 threads and a fairly large mesh size. As it turned out, it is better to take 16 (or even 32) threads, and make the cell size a little smaller. I'll show you what happened. A little later I plan to edit the MK when an improved version appears.

    We unwind the threads, 4 segments (or better, I repeat, 8 segments) of the same length, a little more than a couple of meters. We take a small ring for jewelry, and tie all the threads on it exactly in the center:

    For the same size of the cell, we use a piece of cardboard, which we tie, taking it out later (this idea was spied on a fishing forum). Well, if you initially start weaving on the ball itself, so that someone holds the ring in the center. It is quite inconvenient to weave such a mesh on your knee on your own:

    After the second row, I moved the grid to the ball, and continued, increasing the size of the cell, already without any additional. fixtures.

    As you can see from the photos, the ball expands quite quickly, and you need to significantly increase the size of the grid cells, otherwise they will be irregular in shape, too wide. Increasing the number of threads will just solve this problem. In general, when the net is already on the ball being tied, its shape is generated by itself.

    We continue weaving, soon reaching the widest point of the ball or going quite a bit behind it. From this moment we release the threads down freely, to the basket itself.

    Cut the threads to the desired length and fasten them to the edges of the basket inside (I have not done this yet). You can use glue, hooks, holes in the basket - as convenient.

    You can leave the balloons as is. In this case, you need to be especially careful with the upper edges of the basket (in this case, the finished wicker basket will come in handy), with its inside, as well as with the places where the threads are attached. Because it will all be visible. I propose to place flowers in the basket, thereby solving a number of problems:
    - the whole composition looks more elegant;
    - in one bottle we have both thematic and floral design, without overloading the space;
    - the edges and the inside can be arbitrarily curved 😀, since under the head of flowers all these flaws will not be visible.

    Actually, we stick in a floristic sponge matching flowers and greenery, forming a composition. For training, I used flowers that grew under the window (simply twigs of cherry blossoms and some unknown flowers growing in a flower bed).

    I show two options, described with a network, as well as with coarse twine.
