From March 15 to May 27, the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center will host an exhibition about the history of inventions and the culture of innovation - “The Impossible Is Inevitable. Ideas that change the world.

This is a project about dreams that have remained unchanged for centuries: the desire for immortality, unlimited knowledge, the creation of life, the invention of a perpetual motion machine, the acquisition of superpowers and other desires that today continue to inspire scientists and inventors to create and apply new knowledge, technologies and business models.

The dynamics of the development of digital technologies of the last decade allows us to believe that the achievement of the impossible is inevitable. Life up to a hundred, twenty hours of free time a day, an artificial companion with the highest intelligence, intuition and empathy, an abundance of food and water, the ability to read minds and talk to animals, independence from oil - before our eyes, these dreams are leaving the category of unrealizable.

The exhibition "The Impossible Is Inevitable" will present historical prototypes of modern technologies - from the electric car of Nicholas II to the Soviet video telephone - the predecessor of Skype. Exhibits from the collections of the Polytechnic Museum, the Moscow Museum of Design and the Museum of Soviet Slot Machines will be placed next to dozens of Israeli technology startups.

The Impossible Is Inevitable project aims to explain why invention and innovative entrepreneurship are becoming the new norm, how the principles of working on the creation of new technologies have changed, and why there is a place for everyone in this area. Using the example of investment-successful Israeli companies, the exhibition will explain what a viable innovation ecosystem should be like and why success is directly related to audacity, the habit of questioning authority, and the ability to deal with failure constructively.

Modern artists discuss the inevitability of the impossible together with inventors — especially for the exhibition, Dmitry Morozov, Where Do Dogs Run, Playtronica, Anya Mokhova, Ivan Karpov, Denis Patrakeev and Roman Sakin will develop a series of interactive objects that reflect fantasies, forebodings, forecasts, discoveries and achievements many generations of inventors, futurologists and science fiction writers.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to use the services of a machine that predicts the future, learn to communicate with each other without words, gain wings, see a cabinet of curiosities dedicated to immortality, appreciate the taste of basil grown in a vertical garden - and this is just the beginning.

Visitors will see exhibits from the funds of the Polytechnic Museum, the Moscow Museum of Design, the Museum of Soviet Slot Machines, as well as the development of Israeli technology startups.
