    Master class MK Topiary Kanzashi (author Antares)

    We have a replenishment of unusual uses of kanzashi. Now there is topiary!!! tells us how to create it:

    So, for work we need:

    1. flower meadow))) (any ready-made kanzashi flowers, see),
    2. alabaster or plaster,
    3. container (bucket, cup, vase - at your discretion),
    4. base for the stem (stick, branch, wire - again, as your imagination tells you),
    5. a lot of things for decoration,
    6. base for the crown (ball or foam ball).

    First, I made a pot for my tree from a bucket of crayons that my daughter uses to draw. I painted it with acrylic paints.
    For the barrel, I used a wooden stick, which was once my brother’s homemade fishing rod and also painted it. And, placing the trunk in the pot, she filled it all with alabaster. This is what it looks like:

    Don’t worry if you accidentally poured alabaster somewhere, it’s easy to fix by wiping with a wet cloth.

    For the top-base, I took a plastic ball, cut out a hole into which the stem would be inserted, and roughly calculated how many flowers I would need.

    There are certainly fewer of them in the photo than on the tree itself.

    Now everything is ready to start assembling our composition:

    We glue flowers onto the ball, add greenery and maybe something else that your imagination tells you. We also decorate our pot. I just put glass pebbles in it with glue for decoration:

    I decorated it with a ribbon and a bow, placed the top on the trunk and secured it a little with glue.
    Well, our topiary is ready. You can decorate the interior or give it as a gift.

    If you are thinking about how to decorate the interior of an apartment or office, then ribbon topiary will be the answer to your question. This mysterious name hides an artificial miniature tree strewn with flowers or bows. Don’t forget that topiaries are considered to be crafts that will bring their owner a good mood, happiness and good luck, which is why you shouldn’t hesitate and start making them immediately.

    Let us also note that a topiary made from satin ribbons will be an appropriate gift for almost any celebration: for Valentine’s Day you can give a tree decorated with red hearts, a topiary with pastel-colored flowers will be a great gift for a wedding or the birth of a child, a tree with bright flowers and bows is perfect as a housewarming present.

    So why not learn ribbon topiary how to do it, especially since on the handicraft website you will find many master classes - a step-by-step description of production, as well as photographs of each step will help you create a real small masterpiece without errors from such a seemingly simple material as nylon or satin ribbons.

    But, of course, in addition to satin or nylon ribbons ribbon topiary master class will also require the availability of other materials. For the tree you will need a base - here you can get creative, for example, crumple up a newspaper into a ball shape and wrap it with tape, buy a plastic ball at a children's store or a foam ball at a florist store. However, the base is not always a ball; for example, it can be made from cardboard in the shape of a heart or in the shape of numbers, especially if the topiary is intended as a gift for a memorable date or birthday.

    The “tree trunk” will also depend only on your imagination - you decide whether it will be a stick, kebab skewers assembled together, wire or a corilus branch. Don’t forget about a beautiful container in which the tree will “grow”, a stand for the craft, as evidenced by the photo of topiary made from satin ribbons, you should choose it to match the interior - it can be an ordinary flower pot, a beautiful cup, an iron bucket, decorated using the technique or painted with acrylic paint, a shell or an unusual flat stone. We must not forget about the decor of the craft, which can give it a “zest”

    But, of course, the flowers from topiary ribbons will dominate - you will make them with your own hands. For example, you can make a topiary of roses from ribbons - such topiaries always look very beautiful and romantic, or you can make other flowers, for example, daisies or daisies using the technique.

    If you look at the topiaries from the photo strips, you will notice how varied these can be - from tiny ones that can fit in the palm of your hand, to quite large ones that can be placed in a corner and will decorate the room. And you can choose the master class you like on our website and start creating a miracle.

    Despite the fact that December has just begun, I already want a New Year's holiday. And what will create a New Year's mood better than a Christmas tree? Although, recently New Year's topiaries have also become extremely popular. Such a small tree can be placed on a holiday table or used to decorate an office. In addition, the New Year's topiary will be a great souvenir!

    We have already talked about what topiary is and what are the basic principles of its manufacture. Today we’ll talk about what features New Year’s topiary has.

    Before you start making your own topiary, decide on its shape. The shape can be either round (traditional) or figured (for example, herringbone).

    New Year's topiary ball

    The principle of creating such a topiary is similar to the previous one, you just can use pine cones instead of Christmas tree decorations.

    First, we glue cones to the ball-shaped base, and then fill the gaps between the cones with various decorative elements (beads, bows, small Christmas balls). The main thing is not to overdo it with decoration.

    If you take a cone and spruce or pine branches as a basis, it will also turn out quite nice:

    Topiary made from edible materials (nuts, sweets, tangerines)

    "Tangerine" tree

    It's no secret that tangerines are a favorite New Year's treat. Therefore, we will consider the process of creating a “tangerine” topiary in more detail.

    Prepare the following materials:

    • tangerines
    • a skein of linen rope (can be bought at any gardening and flower shop)
    • a flower pot from which our tree will actually grow
    • a beautiful branch or driftwood, strong enough to withstand the weight of tangerines
    • scissors and paper knife
    • a piece of foam or floral oasis
    • spruce branches and mistletoe leaves for decoration
    • pieces of wire for strengthening tangerines on the tree (a set of small hairpins will do)
    • artificial snow (it can be crushed polystyrene foam or anything else, as long as it looks like snow)

    We take our tangerines and wrap them with rope crosswise. We strengthen the wire as shown in the photo:

    Lightly coat the twig (so that the needles do not stick together) with PVA glue and dip it in the snow.

    We cut out a cone from polystyrene foam or oasis, which is shaped to easily fit into our pot.

    Let's move on to the most difficult and important part. We strengthen the branch in the oasis so that it does not dangle. We begin tying the tangerines one to the other, starting from the bottom. There will be fewer tangerines at the bottom, a little more in the middle, and the same number at the top as at the bottom. Then we decorate all this beauty with leaves and twigs.

    DIY New Year's topiary is ready! You can safely decorate your holiday table with it.

    Remember that tangerines are a perishable product, so it is better to make such a tree on the eve of the New Year. As a worthy alternative, you can use decorative tangerines - plastic or made from polymer clay.

    Candy topiary

    What do you think of the idea of a New Year’s topiary made from candy canes?

    The materials are the most standard: a foam ball, a stick for the trunk, a pot, a satin ribbon for decoration, a foam cube, adhesive tape and 200-300 grams of candy.

    Pay attention to how you can secure the trunk in a foam cube, as well as decorate it:

    And also see how you can cover a foam ball with colored adhesive tape so that you don’t need to further decorate the gaps between the candies:

    The principle of creating a topiary is similar to those described above, but these 2 tips can be very useful to you.

    Can decorate any holiday. To give this tree a New Year's look, use appropriate decorations, for example, a Santa hat:

    Or make a coffee topiary in the shape of a Christmas tree:

    Topiary made of sisal, fabric or felt

    There are a lot of materials for creating a Christmas tree. For examples and patterns, you can refer to the article. Make a Christmas tree using any of the methods and secure it in a pot. The topiary is ready.

    Topiary, also called the European tree of happiness, which can always be given for any occasion, is a modern and fashionable gift. Such a tree helps its owner fulfill his desires and improves life and everyday life. In our master class we will tell you how to make a rose tree using the kanzashi technique (photo below in the article).

    Let's start our work with roses and then we will use them to form our tree of happiness and fulfillment of desires.

    For work we will need:

    Satin ribbons or canvas of your favorite color;

    Tweezers, glue, soldering iron or matches for burning protruding threads from the rose;

    Ball (for pasting it with roses);

    Thermal gun;

    Container for planting a tree;

    Thick wire for the barrel;

    To decorate the container: crepe paper (for covering the container), organza, felt circle.

    Roses made from satin ribbons for topiary

    We cut out the squares, their sizes depend on the size of the future rose. You can take the usual dimensions of five by five centimeters. To hold the squares, use tweezers, cut off the unnecessary corner, take a soldering iron or matches and singe the threads that stick out. We make about seven of these squares and begin to assemble our rose.

    We wet the first petal with glue and roll it up. Then we wet the second petal and wrap it around the previous one. And so we continue to glue the squares in a circle to the previous petal. The size of the flower depends on the squares glued in a circle: the more blanks glued, the larger the flower you will get in the end.

    Now that the main element of the tree is ready, we will begin making the wish tree itself.

    Making topiary from roses

    The number of flowers depends on the size of the ball, which will be the base of the topiary, and on the size of the flowers. For example: for a ball with a diameter of nine centimeters, you will need about thirty-six roses measuring four or five centimeters.

    To ensure that there are no voids between the roses, you need to decorate the base ball of the crown with the remnants of satin material. To do this, we paste over the ball in a chaotic manner and begin to attach roses to it.

    We attach the flowers with a heat gun as tightly as possible to each other. It is more convenient to start applying glue from the inside and in the center of the rose. As soon as we have covered the entire base ball, we will begin to select and decorate the container for the tree.

    Decorating a rose topiary container

    We cover the container with crepe paper and glue organza on top, making it folds. We attach the organza to the bottom of the container from the inside and top. Decorate with ribbon. Glue a circle of felt onto the bottom. And the last step will be gluing a satin bow to our pot.

    For the trunk of the topiary, cut two pieces of wire, first wrap it with thread and then with tape.

    We drill a hole in the ball, stick the barrel into the ball and fix it with glue.

    Planting topiary

    Pour a solution of plaster or alabaster into the container, stick the topiary in there and wait for it to harden. We dilute key PVA and white gouache and cover the solution on top (you can do without glue with gouache, and sprinkle soil from small pebbles on top).

    A few ideas

    Such topiaries can be made not only in the shape of a ball, but also in the shape of hearts, for example, for Valentine's Day or just a gift to a loved one, or numbers, if it is a gift for anniversaries or birthdays. You can also make a wedding topiary, now we will look in more detail at how to do this.

    We will need:

    Tennis ball;

    Wooden stick;

    Satin material in white and pink, silver or gold color;

    Golden or silver tulle;

    Organza;

    Sintepon or cotton wool;

    Container where to plant the tree;

    Alabaster.

    Description of work

    Drill a hole in the ball and insert a stick coated with glue into it. Pour the solution into the container, insert the workpiece there and wait for it to harden. While it hardens, we make roses.

    We fold the satin ribbon into a triangle, roll it up and leave a small tail, it needs to be bent to the base and sewn up. Make the required number of roses. We sew pearl beads inside several roses, and sew a tulle leaf onto several roses. Fold the square into a triangle and sew it at the base, then tighten it.

    Now let's start making balls. We cut out a square from silver or golden satin, fill it with padding polyester or cotton wool and wrap it with thread. Make about eleven balls. Glue the roses to the ball and fill the voids with balls.

    Next we decorate the container. We make holes on top of the container at an equal distance, two centimeters away from the edge. Now we cut out a circle from silver fabric and put it on the container, secure it with gold or silver threads, passing them through the holes in the container. If desired, you can decorate the topiary with sequins.

    Happy creativity!

    Video on the topic of the article

    Kanzashi is a Japanese craft technique that uses flowers, hair clips, and, most often, pieces of fabric folded into flower petals. A variety of decorative elements are created from these components. Kanzashi topiary is considered one of the most popular decorations.

    The popularity of such crafts is due to their beauty, versatility (these creations will fit into any type of interior) and practicality (these trees of happiness can be made for yourself or for someone close as a gift). Since these crafts are in demand, this article will focus on how to make kanzashi topiary with your own hands.

    Create a tree from satin roses

    To make Kanzashi topiary from roses, you need to acquire the following “ingredients”:

    • pink or red satin ribbons 5 cm wide;
    • ruler;
    • lighter;
    • tweezers;
    • glue gun;
    • well-sharpened scissors;
    • beads (white and red;;
    • flower pot;
    • foam ball;
    • paint that matches the color of the tapes used;
    • wooden stick;
    • thin white satin ribbon;
    • green sisal;
    • plaster.

    When creating this masterpiece, the flower preparation stage is the most difficult. Therefore, it will be considered separately. So the work looks like this:

    • take a ribbon of the chosen color and cut it into squares with sides of 5 cm;
    • singe the edges of the cuts with a lighter;
    • after that, take one square and fold it diagonally to form a triangle;
    • glue the meeting corners;
    • Bend the 45 degree corners towards the ninety degree end;
    • hold the connection area with tweezers, stepping back approximately 5 mm from the edge;
    • cut this edge with scissors;
    • prepare the required number of petals in the same way;
    • Apply glue to the cut point, then tightly wrap the petal (after performing this action you should have a bud, around which other petals will then be glued);
    • Apply glue to the edge of the next petal, then wrap the first petal in the second;
    • Continue to perform this step until your flower blank reaches the desired dimensions (as a rule, the diameter of the flower should be 5 cm, although the exact value depends on the diameter of the foam ball).

    Remember! Having created the required number of flower blanks, you will complete the most difficult stage of the work.

    Of course, there are other ways in which you can make kanzashi flowers for topiary; The video below will help you master the techniques available.

    After completing the work on the flowers, when you continue making kanzashi topiary from satin ribbons, the master class will require you to take the following simple steps:

    • take a foam ball and paint it with a color that matches the shade of the flower blanks;
    • after the ball has dried, make a small hole in its bottom (you can use scissors for this);
    • insert a wooden stick into this hole (for optimal fixation, treat the attachment point with glue);
    • then mix a gypsum solution in a flower pot (it should have a creamy consistency) and insert the trunk with the crown into it;
    • after the foundation has hardened, begin gluing satin flowers to the crown;
    • when the flowers are securely grasped, glue one bead to them (try to alternate the colors of the beads);
    • then wrap a white satin ribbon around the tree trunk and the pot itself;
    • cover the plaster surface with sisal;
    • if you have any flowers left over, you can also place them on top of the sisal.

    After completing the last step, you will finish making topiary from kanzashi flowers. If you wish, you can use satin ribbons of different colors. In addition, you can use additional decorations (decorative fruits, pebbles, artificial ladybugs, etc.).

    Making a tree in the shape of a sunflower

    To make a Kanzashi sunflower topiary, you need to have the following “ingredients” on hand:

    • satin ribbons of yellow and green colors (the width of such ribbons should be 5 cm);
    • wire of moderate thickness (you must first make sure that the selected wire bends well);
    • coffee beans;
    • decorative stones;
    • foam ball;
    • well-sharpened scissors;
    • glue gun;
    • flower pot;
    • light green satin fabric;
    • gypsum;
    • decorative stones;
    • artificial ladybug.

    When you start making this kanzashi topiary, the master class will, first of all, require you to create future petals and leaves. This work looks like this:

    • cut the yellow satin strips into pieces 7 cm long (in total you will need to prepare about 50 such pieces);
    • take one strip and fold it in half lengthwise;
    • cut one end so that there is an acute angle;
    • turn the sharp ends inside out and glue them together;
    • as for the untouched part, its ends, on the contrary, are wrapped inward;
    • after twisting, these ends are also glued together;
    • the specified number of petals is created in a similar way;
    • then make future leaves from green ribbons, following the principle described above.

    Subsequent work will be easier. But so that you completely understand how such a kanzashi topiary is put together, photos will be located under each step taken. So, perform the following operations one by one:

    • take a foam ball and make a hole in its lower central part (you can use scissors for this);
    • then cover half of the top of the ball with coffee beans (the beans must be pasted in two layers: first with the strip down, and then up); thanks to this approach you will close the foam base;
    • after that, slightly bend the wire;
    • then connect it to the ball (be sure to treat the joint with glue);
    • then, right from the entry point of the barrel, begin to paste over the ball with yellow petals (while performing this operation, follow a checkerboard pattern);
    • after that, glue two layers of leaves under the petals;
    • then wrap the prepared pot in green satin fabric (glue the edges of the fabric to the sides of the pot);
    • after this, mix the gypsum solution in the pot;
    • insert the trunk with the crown into the container;
    • after the foundation has hardened, wrap the wire with green satin ribbon (fix the ends of the ribbon with glue);
    • Decorate the plaster surface with stones and place a ladybug on top of the stones.

    That's all! The creation of the tree of happiness in the form of a sunflower is finished. As you can see, there is nothing complicated about this. The main thing is to follow directions and be persistent. Of course, there are a lot of other options by which you can create kanzashi topiary; a master class, video or photographic materials that are publicly available will help you master all the intricacies of this craft.
