Exhibition "Christmas tree as an art object"

In Moscow, on the territory of the "Red October" factory, an exhibition "Christmas tree as an art object" was held. The participants of the competition were tasked with creating an original New Year tree, which could become a work of modern art.
The winner of the competition was chosen as a result of voting by a star jury - the installation "Return" became it. The Anatomy of a Christmas Miracle by Nastasya Bezrukova and Nikita Sysoev won in the nomination "Most People's Tree" by the results of Internet voting.
Art objects were also awarded in the following nominations: the most non-Christmas tree - the Doomsday Bunker project, the most New Year tree - the project “A Christmas tree without balls, like a ball without trees”, the most high-tech tree - the project “Christmas tree-antenna”, the project “ The tree of happiness. "
Due to the fact that "Krasny Oktyabr" is not only the center of cultural, but also the secular life of the capital, the organizers established a special prize - "The Most Secular Christmas Tree", which was won by "MainYolka" from MainPeople.

    "Flower of Life". Funkel

The competition, organized by Guta-Development, was attended by architectural bureaus, design studios, Internet portals and printed publications, as well as free artists, and its jury included Commissioner of the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art Joseph Backstein, gallery owner Vladimir Ovcharenko, artist Vladimir Dubossarsky , designer Stas Zhitsky, architects Nikolai Lyzlov, Vlad Savinkin and Vladimir Kuzmin. And although the main theme of the competition was the New Year tree, the participants had every right to interpret the attribute of the New Year holidays as they pleased.

According to the organizers of the competition, they were "interested in any manifestation of creativity: from the extraordinary design of conifers to witty and non-trivial transformations of traditional Christmas trees." That is why the only condition of the competition was formulated as follows: "The Christmas tree should be presented as an art object and contain an expressive conceptual idea."
Another wish of the organizers to the participants was the resistance of the art objects to any whims of the Moscow winter - the trees had to turn out not only spectacular, but also stand until January 14 "without prejudice to their appearance." The main criteria for evaluating the competition works were the innovativeness of the idea, the originality of the composition, the level of artistic and technical performance and the variety of materials used.
"Flower of Life". Funkel. Photo by Oleg Mishin
For his Flower of Life composition, Funkel used steel from which the tree trunk is made, and glass balls filled with liquid, reminiscent of traditional Christmas tree decorations. As conceived by the author, "the light spots that are formed from the glow of the Christmas tree, intersecting with each other, form a drawing, the graphics of which resemble the image of the" flower of life ".
"Aero-Elka". Olga Arazheva. Photo by O. Samborskaya
Olga Arazheva used plastic for the Aero-Yolka project: her “tree” is a large-diameter illuminated corrugated pipe wrapped around a metal pole. As conceived by the author, this construction symbolizes "a spiral of an ascending air stream and creates a directed movement of the Earth's energy into outer space." This installation also has an important practical meaning: such a tree can serve as an original lamp both indoors and outdoors.
"Christmas tree-book". Elena Vinogradova and Marina Bakhireva. Photo by O. Mishin
Elena Vinogradova and Marina Bakhireva created the “Christmas tree-book”, light and environmentally friendly, the “pages” of which are made of plywood and can be read by both children and adults - each of them will find interesting information for themselves on this tree. And Olesya Livanova and Timur Gritsan dedicated their installation to the symbol of the coming year - the dragon. They called their tree that way - "Christmas tree-Dragon", and its wriggling steel trunk really looks like both a mythological animal and a spruce at the same time.
Anatomy of a Christmas Miracle ". Nastasya Bezrukova and Nikita Sysoev. Photo by O. Samborskaya
Nastasya Bezrukova and Nikita Sysoev came up with a composition called "The Anatomy of a Christmas Miracle." This is an attempt to understand the secret of the charm and attractiveness of the New Year tree - it is made up of boxes and pencil cases of different shapes, each of which contains some kind of "secret" and is illuminated from the inside. “Having got rid of the shell, we have the opportunity to see the naked form (skeleton) and, by particles (boxes) materialized, Christmas motifs,” the authors themselves write in the annotations to their work.
Eco-Christmas tree. Karolina Khatkevich. Photo by O. Samborskaya
I disassembled the image of the Christmas tree and Karolina Khatkevich into its components. In her opinion, the main thing in the New Year tree is illumination, so the Eco-Christmas tree invented by this artist is a rack of wooden shelves, shaped like a fir tree, each of which contains candles, lanterns, and all kinds of lamps.
"A tree without balls is like a ball without a tree." Larisa Talis and Archduet company. Photo by O. Samborskaya
And Larisa Talis and the Archduet company decided that the most important thing in the Christmas tree is the decorations, and it was the Christmas ball that they made the main character of their installation. A giant, glittering red ball is decorated with many tiny Christmas trees growing out of it as if from the globe.
"Untitled". Daria Kalita and Diana Arslanova. Photo by O. Samborskaya
One of the most memorable installations of the exhibition, perhaps, was the work of Daria Kalita and Diana Arslanova, which draws attention to the inadmissibility of mass felling of spruce trees before the New Year. Right on the asphalt, the artists depicted a silhouette of a spruce with chalk, and a road sign was installed next to it, as if saying that Christmas trees once grew here ...
"Sacrifice". PR department of the company "Guta-Development". Photo by O. Samborskaya
Opposed the mass destruction of conifers and the PR department of the organizing company - the installation "Sacrifice" is a spruce tree suspended "upside down", which is decorated with black mourning balls. The authors separately emphasize that during the creation of this art object "not a single spruce was harmed."
“Individual tree-bunker”. Mealhouse A&M. Photo by O. Samborskaya
What does the coming 2012 promise us and will the problem of protection from natural disasters and man-made disasters really become the most urgent? The Mealhouse A&M bureau gives its answer to this question, having invented a Christmas tree in the form of ... a bunker.
"Return". DirectDesign.ru. Photo by O. Samborskaya
Well, the most romantic object of the show was undoubtedly the art project "Return" by DirectDesign, which makes us remember that the new year is a time of transition. In the sky over Red October, the authors hung several snow-white fir trees hovering on wings (some look like angelic ones, others more like dragons in their outlines). As conceived by the authors, it is “the souls of the felled New Year trees who have returned to the holiday soar. Their snow-white wings, frozen in a flap, emphasize the "crystal purity of the festive moment."

The exhibition of unusual Christmas trees will run on Red October until January 14. And the winners of the competition will be determined this week - December 23.

Before the New Year, the capital was again decorated with fluffy Christmas trees, bright art objects, tens of meters of garlands, sparkling installations.

At any, even the darkest time of the day, you can walk along the illuminated streets and alleys, looking at the volumetric light figures: Santa Claus, angels, bears, Christmas balls, etc.

Where can you see real magic with your own eyes and recharge with New Year's mood? Where to go to take holiday photos?

    Magic forest on Manezhnaya square

You can admire the highest city spruce on Manezhnaya Square. Strasbourg, Bern, Nuremberg, Copenhagen, Prague, Vienna, Brussels, Riga, Vilnius and, of course, Moscow - the square invites guests to travel to European cities, where the world's most famous Christmas markets are held.

The festive mood is created by live music and bright performances of theatrical groups. The main point of attraction for fans of spectacular photos is the Christmas tree. It took 3 km of Christmas tree garlands and 3,500 toys to decorate it.

Here you can also take a walk in the snow-covered New Year's forest of 130 fir trees - it is spread out under the dome of a glowing “Christmas sky”, take a picture against the background of the art objects “Moscow Troika” and “Nuremberg Christmas Mill” and watch the lamplighter lighting an old Prague lantern.

There is a fairground carousel on the square, where you can ride and take a photo for memory.

    Fairy Tale in Zaryadye

Zaryadye Park received a fantastic decoration for the 2019/2020 New Year season. A convenient location, unique objects, transformed into festive attire, will undoubtedly be appreciated by both adults and children.

In the fairy tale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King"

Tverskoy Boulevard will be especially liked by young townspeople. After all, it is here that they will find themselves in the atmosphere of the famous Christmas fairy tale of the 19th century, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. And artists in costumes of characters from their favorite fairy tales, unusual art objects and a thematic photo zone will help them in this. Every day here you can meet the brave Nutcracker, lovely Marie and the treacherous Mouse King, take part in exciting games and sports activities and take dozens of wonderful photographs as a keepsake.

On this site, you can take atmospheric family photos in the "Christmas anticipation" photo zone - against the backdrop of an elegant living room with a Christmas tree and shelves full of books. Children will enjoy riding toy horses.

Art objects of the "Journey to Christmas" festival

Moscow sparkles with festive lights and New Year's art objects for another occasion: until January 31, the capital hosts the annual Journey to Christmas festival.

The festival grounds have traditionally hosted unusual installations, there are Christmas fairs, street shows and concerts, fascinating master classes and contests.

    "Sunrise" in Gorky Park

The "Voskhod" skating rink in Gorky Park stands out among its metropolitan counterparts for its bright, extraordinary design. This season, the ice rink once again sparkles with thousands of lights.

The design of the skating rink this season is dedicated to the events of the first half of the 20th century: space, flight and the pursuit of dreams. The main elements in the design of the skating rink and pavilions are a star, a planet, a satellite.

    Skating rink at VDNKh

The skating rink at VDNKh is located on the Central Alley - from the Central pavilion to the Agriculture pavilion. From a bird's eye view, the ice rink with its outlines resembles a magic golden key.

Lovers of romance can ride along the "Alley of Lovers" around the "Stone Flower" fountain. A large-scale artistic composition is located along the central alley of the ice rink - a fabulous field of glowing fir trees, snowdrops, cornflowers and forget-me-nots.

In the evening, the skating rink lights up. Also, fences and a pedestrian wooden bridge from which a beautiful view opens up are decorated with lighting.

The country's main exhibition has changed for the New Year. In place of lawns and flower beds, luminous flowers appeared, shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow, dandelion lamps grow on both sides of the Central pavilion, and a field of fireflies flickers on Industry Square.

Right at the entrance to the exhibition, guests will be greeted by the "Alley of Magic", which consists of nine luminous openwork arches. Walking along it, you can get to the Central pavilion and see the unusual festive installation Christmas Time. It is a luminous arch with almost 19 meters high columns. It almost completely repeats the outline of the arch of the main entrance. The composition is crowned with a clock with a dial and a snowflake pendulum. The Christmas Time clock is not fake, and, indeed, it accurately counts the hours and minutes.

GUM-Fair and GUM-skating rink on Red Square

Until February 29, a Christmas GUM Fair with merry-go-rounds, attractions, hawkers, buffoons and mummers is open on Red Square. Located nearby.

    ABOUT THE EVENT

A New Year's holiday is usually not complete without its main symbol - a decorated Christmas tree. Exhibition "Art-YOLKA" is the creation by means of modern art and design of an unusual "Christmas tree space" - the plastic equivalent of the "Spirit of the Christmas tree", as a ritual tree and the holiday of the same name. The exposition is conceived as a dynamic, whimsical installation and invites you to enter as if inside the Christmas tree itself, as if into space, in contrast to the traditional festive action unfolding around the Christmas tree - a tree. A single festive environment will be created in the gallery, like a pictorial collage of different materials and semi-finished products, reminiscent of the attributes of the New Year's holiday - Christmas tree decorations, forest animals and all kinds of fabulous "forest scum".

The exhibition features large images of objects by masters of the twentieth century, corresponding to the spirit of the holiday, as well as Art objects on the theme of the Christmas tree and non-trivial Christmas decorations, made by designers, glass artists, students of the Moscow Architectural Institute and Moscow State Art and Industry Academy named after S.G. Stroganov and children's creative studios.

The New Year exhibition installation can also be viewed as a "theatrical decoration" in which various performances and quests for children will be played out during the exhibition.

If you want to get a charge of joy for the whole year, come to our exhibition "Art-tree".

The feeling of the New Year comes when everything around looks festive. Every winter, closer to January, we decorate our homes, and every time we want to surprise ourselves and loved ones with something new, unusual. To do this, you don't have to run to the store for new toys, candles, garlands - you can create a New Year's atmosphere if you make the decorations yourself.

For inspiration and fresh ideas website contacted InMyRoom.

    Holiday candles

To make New Year's Eve really special, dim the lights and place candles around the house. You can make candlesticks with your own hands: jars, flower pots, cones, and even cinnamon sticks are suitable for this.

    Made with love

You can also make Christmas decorations with your own hands: for example, mold them from plasticine or sew them from felt or velvet. And if you don't like sewing, try making toys from transparent balls or old light bulbs. To do this, cover the glass surface with glue and dip the ball or light bulb into a bowl of sparkles.

    Let there be light

Glowing garlands are guaranteed to create a New Year's mood. Hang them literally everywhere: on stair railings, ceilings and walls, along cabinets and doorways, and, of course, on a Christmas tree. You can make garlands yourself - for example, from corrugated paper or foil.

    Small but remote

A Christmas tree made of cones, buttons, lace, woolen threads or multi-colored stickers will be an excellent New Year's decoration. Decorate the finished Christmas tree with sparkles, beads and ribbons - and it can compete with a real tree.

    Draw with Santa Claus

Don't forget the window décor and draw some pretty frosty patterns. To do this, cut out stencils from thick paper and prepare paint: mix toothpaste with water until thick. Now it remains to attach the stencils to the windows and blot them with a sponge.

    Delicious garlands

If you are looking for an original way to decorate your home for the upcoming holiday, bake a fragrant gingerbread cookie and make small holes in it. Pass the ribbon through the holes and delight your loved ones with an original edible garland.

    A little nostalgia

The tree can be decorated not only with tinsel, garlands or New Year's toys. Make the holiday brighter and hang printed family photos on a tree - such an original decor will definitely not leave anyone indifferent.

    Joy for children

Don't forget about the children - make a beautiful Christmas decoration for them with your own hands. To do this, just put a children's toy and a Christmas tree in a jar, and use rice or cotton wool as snow.

    To keep the toys warm

You can make Christmas tree toys from anything - even from an old scarf or sweater. It doesn't take long: take a Christmas tree ball and wrap it tightly with a woolen cloth. Now secure the fabric at the base of the ball with tape - and you can hang the ball on the tree, windows or railings.

    Tangerine mood

Let this year tangerines decorate not only the festive table, but also the Christmas tree. Place the fruit in simple plywood crates lined with craft paper. When dry, garnish with ribbons or cinnamon sticks. Such simple but fragrant crafts will look great next to other Christmas tree decorations.

    The holiday is everywhere

You can decorate with Christmas balls not only a New Year tree: they will look no worse on windows or a chandelier. The balls are easy to fix on colored ribbons and hang, for example, on a curtain rod.
