• Pigtail pattern from newspaper tubes. Weaving techniques from newspaper tubes. VIV. Weaving some products from newspapers

    15.11.2019

I will show on this work my favorite "pigtail" pattern
http://stranamasterov.ru/node/711209 , only with triple tubes, but at the same time I will describe some details. I hope this will help those who do not dare to cast aside doubts about this pattern and still master it. I really like to weave them.

Let me remind you that the number of racks is a multiple of three, plus or minus one. Woven the bottom, raised the racks, several rows of rope and start to "braid". Also note that I have double racks, single ones can "dance" under the onslaught of triple working tubes.
We substitute working tubes and weave. I watched the video of MK from Elena Tishchenko, Milena Strogoy has a description of this pigtail on the cradle for dolls.

    4.

The tubes should be wet, they are also dense, they cannot be laid dry. So that the strands fit beautifully, before starting them behind the rack, I give them a shape, I bend them like this, I put them.

    5.

And just like that. Somehow they wrote to me that my tubes seem to be made of plasticine, so when they are wet inside, that is, a little such a feeling when weaving, they are plastic. And when I read someone’s comments that I don’t like to weave with wet tubes, I believe that the person is simply doing something wrong. It's nice when the tubes obey and a beautiful result is obtained.

    6.

We came to the beginning of the row. How do I go to the next row? No tricks, just spinning in a spiral.

    7.

Here is a wall with transitions, almost invisible.

    8.

We have come to an end, we will close the row. The pink triplet is wound behind the post, to which the first (left) triple strand was originally substituted.

    9.

    Cut and glue.

    10.

We start the next one for the second rack and cut it

    11.

She brought the third one behind the next post, cut it off and hid it inside. Pasted PVA.

    12.

On the lid, I also decided to weave a pigtail, I suffered a little with the closure. After the pigtails in the corners, I added two paired racks. If it is interesting, I can post the details on the lid later. First you have to remember yourself.

    13.

    14.

    15.

So, I gathered my thoughts and am ready to talk about the cap. I glued 33 double racks (in multiples of three), weaved one row, so I did not add one rack, which is needed to shift the pattern. Weaved carefully laying the strands, especially at the corners.

    16.

I dyed the strands to make it clearer. I weaved a row and came to the beginning (the pink strand went behind the first rack). I orientate myself like this "we have to draw a strand over two racks, behind the third, alternately the upper and lower strands.

    17.

I cut off the pink strand behind the counter

    18.

Now the top strand (yellow) on top of the two posts behind the third. Here I have already begun to be wise: before I put the yellow strand behind the counter, I removed the red

    19.

Now the lower one is on top of two racks behind the third, the red one is not moving yet

    20.

I cut off the blue and yellow

    21.

We hide the ends of the yellow strand, it turns out that not on the wrong side, but between two strands

    22.

She attached a red one, later pressed it with the next row of rope and fixed it

    23.

The drawing is slightly disturbed, but it is hardly noticeable

    24.

And here is how the tips are laid and glued on the wrong side. There, the initial tips were still sticking out, you can see how I tucked them under the racks when they were saturated with PVA glue.

    25.

I glued a couple more posts on each side to the corner posts on PVA and wove them on.

    26.

    27.

    from comments:

As for the tubes: I dip them in stain or primer with a color scheme, so to speak, I bathe, so they get very wet when painting. I leave a pile to lie on the newspaper for 2-3 hours, they dry out on top and become lighter, the tips dry out. I wrap it in polyethylene so that only the very ends stick out from both sides, they must be dried so that they fit well when building. And if the tubes are dry, I spray them, covering the ends, and wrap them in a bag with protruding ends for at least 15 minutes to moisten the inside

I hope you won't be offended if I insert my five kopecks to explain why the drawing is broken. When one strand differs in color from the others, or they are all different colors, then horizontally the width of the rapport becomes equal to six racks. In fact, it is six even with a single color, since each strand makes the following path: "came out from below, in front of TWO in front, behind ONE behind, came out on top, in front of TWO in front, behind ONE behind". 2 + 1 + 2 + 1 \u003d 6. But if the pattern is one color, then its visible to the viewer the part is repeated every two stands (not three, by the way). For this case, if you took 30 or 36 racks, then the pink strand would clearly come to its beginning. And now, although it is not so noticeable, there are two failures at once: in color and in parity. By color, I have already explained, but by parity, this is what I mean. Look at photo 22 somewhere in the middle of the weave. From behind every second rack, a triple strand of tubes comes out from above. That is, nowhere are there such two consecutive racks, because of which a triple strand would not come out from above. Also the place where you fit the pattern. Here, where you marked in yellow, there are just two racks in a row, because of which the strand does not come out. This is precisely because you have an odd number of racks. Here is one rack and remained. So if you even took all the strands of the same color, you would still have a glitch for one extra (or missing) rack.

The article will tell you how to create beautiful crafts from the material at hand - newspaper tubes.

Weaving from newspaper tubes for beginners step by step: weaving technique, master class, photo

Weaving from newspaper tubes has almost completely replaced vine weaving in recent years. The fact is that getting this material is much easier than breaking willow branches or looking for a vine to weave. In addition, you do not have to spend money, because even if a bundle of TV programs or advertising publications is not lying around in your house, you can always ask your loved ones.

IMPORTANT: A thin long tube is spinning from a newspaper sheet, which is the main material. The tube is fastened with ordinary PVA or dry pencil glue. Moreover, it is not necessary to lubricate the entire sheet. This can only be done at the corner of the newspaper.

In the case when you need to lengthen your newspaper tube, you simply insert the blanks one by one and glue them, continuing weaving. So you can glue the tubes almost indefinitely, creating both small caskets and large vases with human growth.

There are several weaving techniques, which depend on what kind of product you are creating and what kind of pattern you want to make. In weaving, it is important to use patterns and patterns so that the drawing is beautiful and neat. In cases where the "lohu" does not get a finger, you should use an ordinary metal knitting needle or crochet.

At the end of weaving (for example, at the edge of the product), you should tuck the twigs so that they bend inward. There you can put them on glue or wrap them up so that the end is not visible. The finished product is usually coated with paint. For this, it is advisable to use acrylic paint or from a spray can, it is resistant to moisture. After drying, it is advisable to open the product with one or two layers of varnish.

How to make tubules from newspapers for weaving?

Any weaving begins with the preparation of the material, which means that many newspaper tubes should be prepared in advance. To twist a beautiful and even tube, you should use a long wooden skewer (for barbecue) or a thin metal knitting needle.

It is this item that you will lay the base of the newspaper sheet and twist the tube. Due to the several layers of paper, it will be quite dense and suitable for creating wicker products. Thoroughly grease the corner of the newspaper with glue so that it can adhere securely and the tube is strong.

Where to start weaving newspaper baskets?

After you have prepared a sufficient number of tubes, you should start choosing the shape of the product: square, round, rectangular, heart, and so on.

You should decide on what the bottom of the product will be. There are two options:

    • Bottom made of cardboard
    • Bottom connected from tubes

The cardboard bottom is suitable for small items (boxes and boxes). Large ones (trays, boxes, boxes) should be woven on their own. Any weaving should be done in strict accordance with the pattern. To make the weaving neat, you should fasten the ends of the tubes with clothespins, pinching them to the shape.

    Description of bottom weaving:

    • Cross 8 tubes together (photo 1)
    • Begin braiding in a circle, bending each tube clockwise (Photos 2 and 3).
    • The braiding should continue until you reach the desired bottom diameter.
    • Extend the tubes, inserting a new one each time (photo 4)
    • Prepare the strapping shape
    • Lift the tubes and fix them with clothespins to the edge of the mold (photos 5 and 6).
    • Extend the tubes and continue weaving in a circle.

What and how to paint newspaper tubes for weaving a basket?

It is better to dye newspaper tubes after the product is completely finished. If you paint them beforehand, you risk ruining their good flexibility by making them non-malleable, which will completely ruin the weave.

The finished product should be coated with acrylic or machine paints. These paints are moisture resistant and do not flow on contact with water. The paint can be applied in any way: brush, sponge, spray gun, spray gun, airbrush. Acrylic paints mix well and you can always choose the desired shade and color from them.

IMPORTANT: After the paint has dried, the product should be opened with a layer (or two layers) of varnish. This will allow the product to acquire a glossy shine and become much stronger.

How to make, twist newspaper tubes from newspapers and paint?

    Twisting tubes from newspapers

For those needlewomen who undertake the process of rolling newspaper tubes for the first time, this business may seem very difficult and almost impossible. But over time, having filled your hand, you can achieve pretty good results when the newspapers will, as it were, roll up into tubes.

So, here is a list of materials needed to roll newspaper tubes:

    • Newspapers
    • PVA glue or stationery glue stick
    • Knife, stationery knife or scissors (whichever is more convenient for anyone)
    • Thin knitting needle 0.5-1 mm or skewer

Algorithm for rolling newspapers into tubes:

    • We take a newspaper or a stack of newspapers.
    • We fold all the pages so that they lie clearly one under the other.
    • We fold the newspaper in half.
    • Again, make sure that the edges of the newspaper do not go over each other.
    • Cut the folded newspaper in half.
    • Fold the resulting newspaper halves in half again.
    • We cut the halves of the newspapers along the new fold.
    • Sort the resulting newspaper quarters into two piles.
    • We put strips of newspaper with white edges in one pile - the tubes twisted from them will be pure white.
    • We put strips with letters in another pile - the tubes twisted from them will be with a seal.
    • We take one of the pages of the newspaper.
    • We put a knitting needle in its lower right corner.
    • The needle is placed at an angle of 25-30 degrees.
    • Holding the tip of the newspaper, we begin to twist the knitting needle, winding paper around it.
    • We try to roll the newspaper as tightly as possible.
    • Twisting almost the entire tube, coat its edge with glue and glue it to the tube.
    • We take out the knitting needle.
    • We give the finished straw to dry for 15-20 minutes.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that the final version of the finished tube will have two ends of different thickness - on one side the tube will be thicker, and on the other, thinner. Such a structure of the tubes is necessary in order to "build up" them. "Extension" is a procedure based on the creation of long tubes. It consists in the fact that the thinner end of the other tube is “screwed” into the thicker end of one tube and “glued”. Thus, one long newspaper tube is obtained.

Instructions for twisting tubes from newspapers: Video

You can paint over tubes from newspapers after the fact - when the product is completely ready. However, this option is only suitable for cases when the craft is done in one color. If the product is conceived in different colors, then it is advisable to paint over the tubes in advance.
You can stain newspaper tubes with any dyes:

    1. watercolor
    2. gouache
    3. acrylic paints
    4. aerosol cans
    5. stain (letters will show through)
    6. food colorings
    7. eyebrow, hair dye
    8. brilliant green
    9. basma
    10. paint on wood
    11. colorless paint with the addition of color (this way you can make on
    12. based on one paint several at once different shades paints)

How to paint tubes from newspapers: Video

    • It is immediately worth highlighting two types of dyes, which are the most popular among the masters of weaving from newspaper tubes - these are acrylic paints and water-based stain. Both of these water-based dyes allow a thorough and dense color of paper. At the same time, during weaving, no paint remains on the hands and surface, which is important in this process.
    • In order to make the product more durable and water-resistant, it is desirable to treat it with varnish at the stage of the tubes. The ideal option is when the varnish is applied in 2 layers.
    • By the way, in the case of varnish, you can save on paint - you can add color directly to the varnish.
    • Stained straws must be thoroughly dried in the oven, in the sun or in front of the oven.

How and where to start weaving from newspaper tubes?

    • Often, the design of newspaper crafts consists of a bottom, guides and woven tubes.
    • Several tubes of the required length are used in the form of guides - the length directly depends on the height of the craft.
    • There may be several tubes for weaving - for beginners it is better to start with one tube.
    • It is advisable to make the bottom of the craft wicker - so the product will look more attractive. With this type of weaving, the core of the bottom is first made, the ends of which will later become the stands of the craft, and then tubes are braided around it, creating a round (or other shape) bottom.
    • But you can also make a solid bottom - it is created from two circles cut from thick cardboard. The vertical posts of the craft are glued to the lower circle (at the place of attachment they need to be flattened a little), and from above they are fixed with another circle with the help of glue.
    • As the basis for the craft, you can use a jar, vase, glass or other container of suitable size. The base is installed on the bottom, and the racks are fixed in its upper part with clothespins for evenness of the product.
    • When the bottom, base and guides are in place, you can begin to braid them with paper vine.

Weaving methods from newspaper tubes for beginners: step-by-step instructions, master class

For beginner needlewomen, the simplest way of weaving from a newspaper vine is suitable - a single one with a solid bottom:

    • We take the finished frame of the future craft.
    • We flatten one of the tubes, which will act as a vine, at the end.
    • We glue the flattened end of the vine to the bottom of the craft.
    • We start the vine behind the nearest guide (with this type of weaving, there should be an odd number of them) outside.
    • We bring the vine inside the craft.
    • We braid the next guide from the inside.
    • We take the vine out of the craft and wrap it around the next guide outside.
    • Thus, we continue in a circle along the entire height of the craft.
    • In the process of work, the vine will end, therefore we build it up along the way.
    • Make sure that the vine falls tightly, and the racks are straight.
    • Having stuffed your hand a little, you can try to weave several vines at once (2-3).
